ATMACA, the anti-ship missile developed by ROKETSAN with national resources, achieved great success by hitting its target with full accuracy in the firing test carried out within the scope of the DENİZKURDU-II 2025 Exercise organized by the Turkish Naval Forces.
First Domestic Missile Launched from Domestic Warship
The ATMACA missile fired from our nationally produced corvette class warship TCG KINALIADA located in the Sinop firing range successfully destroyed the designated target. This firing has a historical significance for the Turkish Naval Forces. Because with this test, the ATMACA missile was fired for the first time after it was included in the Naval Forces inventory. Another element that makes the firing even more important is that this successful test was carried out from a completely domestically produced warship, TCG KINALIADA. This historical moment symbolizes an important step taken by Türkiye on its path to independence in the defense industry.
ATMACA Missile's Superior Capabilities
ATMACA stands out as an anti-ship missile that has all the features required by the modern warfare environment and can be used effectively in all weather conditions. While the missile demonstrates high resistance to countermeasures that enemy elements may apply, it also provides operational flexibility with its target update, re-attack and mission abort capabilities. ATMACA, which can demonstrate high effectiveness against fixed and moving targets thanks to its advanced mission planning system (3D routing), advances precisely towards its target using subsystems such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Barometric Altimeter and Radar Altimeter. When it approaches its target, it uses its active radar seeker to lock on with high accuracy.
Beyond Line of Sight Range and Advanced Data Link
ATMACA, which has a range of over 220 kilometers, also poses a deterrent threat to targets beyond line of sight (BVLOS). The missile’s target update, re-attack and mission abort capabilities are based on its advanced and modern data link technology. This allows the missile to stay in constant communication with the launch platform, update target information and cancel the mission when necessary. In addition, the system, which can offer a flexible mission profile, also features different operational modes such as target timing, target engagement from a specific point and target engagement.
Lightweight and Durable Design with Composite Material Technology
ATMACA also draws attention with its structural design. The guided missile was designed using advanced composite material technologies in line with the latest technological developments in the defense industry in order to reduce its weight and increase its structural strength. These innovative technologies were used to the maximum extent in the production of the missile, which made a significant contribution to the missile's performance and reliability.
ROKETSAN's Future Goals
ROKETSAN aims to further develop the current superior capabilities of the ATMACA missile in the future. In line with this, studies are ongoing on versions with different guidance systems such as the Infrared Seeker (IIR) and Dual Seeker. On the other hand, versions that can be launched from submarines and vertical launch systems (VLS) will be developed to increase the platform diversity of the missile. ROKETSAN continues its work with high motivation to further increase the already high nationalization rate of ATMACA in the future and thus to minimize the external dependency in the defense industry. This successful firing test once again demonstrated Türkiye's competence and determination in the national defense industry.
