Agricultural Move in Ordu Bears Fruits

Thanks to the great importance given to agriculture by Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, an important production move has been made in the city in the last 5 years. 4 million summer and winter vegetable seedlings produced in the greenhouses established by the Metropolitan Municipality were distributed to citizens and introduced to the soil. Mayor Güler emphasized the success in agricultural production by saying, “We are continuing the work we started in line with the understanding of ‘A City That Grows Where It Is Born’ that we expressed when we took office.”

President Guler's Agriculture and Livestock Vision

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler has gone beyond the classical municipality approach and initiated a comprehensive development initiative in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. The studies carried out under the leadership of the Metropolitan Municipality Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department aim to increase the diversity of agricultural products and to increase the income levels of producers who earn their living from agriculture and animal husbandry. In line with this purpose, support is provided to producers in every field.

Production in Own Greenhouses Reduces External Dependency

The distribution of vegetable seedlings, one of the agricultural supports of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, stands out as an important part of the strategy to reduce external dependency. For this purpose, vegetable seedlings produced from seeds in modern greenhouses established are brought together with producers in their seasons, both summer and winter. The Metropolitan Municipality has produced 4 million seedlings in its own greenhouses to date and distributed them to citizens. For the new season, the production of 380 thousand summer vegetable seedlings has been completed and made ready for distribution.

Inspection of Greenhouses by President Guler

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler visited and inspected the Metropolitan Municipality greenhouses in Gülyalı Turnasuyu Neighborhood. Stating that 380 thousand vegetable seedlings produced here for summer are ready for distribution, Mayor Güler drew attention to the production revolution in agriculture and animal husbandry and the importance they attach to food safety.

“We Attach Great Importance to Food Safety and Production”

After his inspections in the greenhouses, President Güler made a statement saying, “We are revolutionizing production in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry, and we are turning Ordu into a global brand. We make our producers happy every year by making significant contributions to them with the seedlings we grow in our seedling production facilities that we established five years ago. Our agriculture department is carrying out very serious work to both find solutions to food safety and contribute to the economy of our people. We have so far produced 4 million seedlings in our greenhouses and distributed them to our citizens. Now, we have completed our production to distribute 380 thousand summer vegetable seedlings. By distributing all of these, we want to both contribute to the economy and find solutions to food safety. In addition to our vegetable seedlings, we will also distribute squash, melon and watermelon seedlings to 19 neighborhoods in 772 districts. By doing this, we want to show that these products are also grown in Ordu and make them widespread.”

These summer vegetable seedlings, carefully grown from seeds and made ready to be planted in the soil, will be delivered to producers in 19 districts of Ordu in the coming days, thus contributing to the further increase in agricultural production in the city. This support from the Metropolitan Municipality both strengthens the local economy and facilitates citizens' access to healthy and natural products.
