Spanish industrial companies led by Airbus and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to identify and develop cooperation opportunities within the scope of the “Advanced Jet Trainer Aircraft, Integrated Training System – Combatant (ITS-C)” program, which aims to replace the F-5M training aircraft in the Spanish Air and Space Force inventory.
This collaboration will bring together Airbus' expertise in design, manufacturing, service support and training with TAI's innovative design of the HÜRJET, a single-engine, two-seat, supersonic jet trainer aircraft with advanced capabilities.
A memorandum of understanding was previously signed between TAI and Airbus, aiming to initiate studies on possible industrial cooperation. As a continuation of this memorandum of understanding, the parties came together for a new memorandum of understanding at the FEINDEF fair held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, with the participation of Spanish industrial companies.
The agreement aims to include the HÜRJET Jet Training Aircraft, developed by TUSAŞ with national resources, into the Spanish integrated training system, while also strengthening Spanish industry. The signed memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen defense ties between Turkey and Spain and to respond to the increasing operational needs of the Spanish Air Force for modern training aircraft.
TUSAŞ continues to provide services in the design, development, modernization, production, integration and life cycle support processes of integrated aviation and space industry systems, from fixed and rotary wing air platforms to unmanned aerial vehicles and space systems, with 4 thousand employees in 710 million square meters of open and 16 thousand square meters of closed area. It is the technology center of Türkiye and is among the global players in the aviation, space and defense industry.
Jet Training Aircraft HÜRJET
Designed and developed by TUSAŞ engineers, the HÜRJET Jet Training Aircraft plays a critical role in training pilots for 5th generation fighter aircraft thanks to its high performance and advanced avionics capabilities. Thanks to its user interface (HMI) designed to minimize the transition time to 5th generation fighter aircraft, the HÜRJET, a supersonic advanced jet training aircraft, will be an ideal training solution to replace aging training aircraft and prepare young pilots for the challenges of modern fighter aircraft. Reaching supersonic speed by exceeding the speed of sound, the HÜRJET Jet Training Aircraft aims to reach a maximum speed of 1,4 Mach.
In particular, the latest technology HÜRJET Training 360 System, developed with a connected training architecture consisting of the Embedded Training System and Land-Based Training Systems, which carries HÜRJET to a superior level of training efficiency, draws attention. Thanks to its smart single-engine configuration, it provides less fuel consumption, easier and faster maintenance, and less spare parts usage.
