Multi-Purpose Support Ship Design from STM

STM showcased its nationally designed Multi-Purpose Support Ship for the first time at the LIMA Fair held in Malaysia.

MRSS, which will support amphibious operations by carrying armored units, can be used as a fully equipped hospital in crisis and disaster areas that are difficult to reach by land, thanks to its advanced medical support units as well as its logistic support capability at sea, and can carry out evacuation operations even under CBRN conditions when necessary.

STM, Türkiye's engineering power at sea, has created a new platform design with its design capability and experience in the field of military maritime. The Multi-Purpose Support Ship (MRSS), originally designed by STM's field experts and engineering staff, was introduced for the first time at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aviation Exhibition (LIMA) held in Malaysia.

Güleryüz: MRSS Will Provide Versatile Response to Modern Naval Operations

Speaking at the ceremony, STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz said that they are the largest solution partner of the Turkish Navy and that they have built modern naval platforms for Portugal, Ukraine, Pakistan and Malaysia. Reminding that the construction of 2 corvettes within the scope of LMS Batch-3 for the Royal Malaysian Navy by STM started in Türkiye last year, Güleryüz continued as follows:

“With our engineering capabilities, we are exhibiting a platform that will pave the way for new collaborations for the first time at LIMA, Malaysia. The Multi-Purpose Support Ship (MRSS), which we designed indigenously by taking into account the requirements of the Malaysian Navy, is an innovative platform that responds to operational needs in a multi-faceted way. Offering high operational flexibility, MRSS will be able to successfully perform both amphibious operations and logistic support missions at sea. With its capacity to carry 14 main battle tanks, 9 amphibious vehicles, 500 amphibious personnel, and 2 15-ton helicopters, MRSS has many features that will be effective in amphibious landing operations. It will play an active role not only in military but also in humanitarian aid operations. It will increase the operational effectiveness of navies at sea by supporting search and rescue missions from evacuation operations to being a hospital ship, and from helicopter operations to search and rescue missions. We have presented a cost-effective and effective design for long-term operations.
