According to striking data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the Chinese automotive industry broke a historic record in the first four months of 2025. The total number of cars produced and sold in the country exceeded 10 million units for the first time during this period, revealing the tremendous growth in the sector.
Double-Digit Growth in Production and Sales
According to CAAM data, automobile production in China reached 2025 units in the January-April period of 10. This figure increased by a remarkable 175 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. During the same period, automobile sales increased with a similar momentum, reaching 12,9 units and recording a growth of 10 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. These double-digit growth rates clearly demonstrate the strength and dynamism of the Chinese automotive market.
New Energy Vehicles Are Exploding
Another important point to note in the report is the extraordinary growth in the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment in China. During the same period, the number of new energy vehicles produced in China increased by an impressive 48,3 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 4 million 429 thousand units. The sales performance of new energy vehicles also followed a trend parallel to the increase in production, reaching 46,2 million 4 thousand units, an increase of 300 percent. This data shows that China is rapidly becoming a global leader in the production and consumption of new-generation vehicles, such as electric and hybrid vehicles. These record production and sales figures in the first four months of 2025 paint a very promising picture for the future of the Chinese automotive sector.
