IMM teams are completing preparations for Eid al-Adha. This year, IMM will provide sacrificial animal sales and slaughtering services at 4 modern facilities on the European and Anatolian sides. Transactions will be made through an appointment system via a mobile application. Teams will continue to increase inspections to prevent unwanted images from forming in the city during the Eid days, and cleaning efforts will be carried out meticulously. Bull Catching Teams were established for sacrificial animals that escaped during the Eid. In addition, personalized Istanbulkart owners will be able to benefit from IMM's public transportation services free of charge during the Eid.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues its preparations with only a few days left for Eid al-Adha. Teams will be on alert 6/9 to ensure that Istanbulites do not experience any negativity during Eid al-Adha, which will be celebrated between June 2025-7, 24 this year.
INSPECTIONS ON SACRIFICIAL AREAS
As of May 22, 2025, the entry of sacrificial animals into Istanbul began, IMM teams began to inspect approximately 1.000 sacrificial animal sales and slaughtering sites in Istanbul. In order to prevent illegal animal entry into the city, joint inspections are carried out with the Ministry, Security and Municipal Police, and veterinary health reports and veterinary health reports/passports/transportation documents are checked for the transportation permit of large/small cattle.
SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED IN 4 MODERN FACILITIES
This year, IMM aims to provide healthy, hygienic and modern services to its citizens during the Eid al-Adha.
Services will be provided in 4 facilities: Alibeyköy–Eyüpsultan, Ferhatpaşa–Ataşehir, Kurnaköy–Pendik and Paşaköy–Sancaktepe. Slaughtering will be carried out in the facilities under veterinary supervision, in accordance with religious rules and under hygienic conditions.
The modern facilities, which have a total sacrificial capacity of 5 large and 100 small cattle, will use the latest technology to ensure that slaughtering operations are carried out quickly and regularly. 600 thousand hygienic sacrificial bags were prepared for packaging the meat, and annual maintenance of all slaughtering equipment was completed. Comfort was also prioritized thanks to the prayer rooms, sinks, toilets, rest areas and mobile buffets offered for citizens' use in the facilities. Technical teams will be on standby in case of possible malfunctions.
EASY ACCESS WITH KURBANE MOBILE APPLICATION
Citizens who want to have their sacrificial animals slaughtered at these facilities belonging to IMM will be able to make transactions via the appointment system in order to prevent congestion. In addition, with the Qurban Mobile application, both the facilities will be easily found and the ear tag information of the animals will be queried from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry data. Information about IMM facilities can also be accessed through the application, which can be downloaded free of charge from the IOS and Android markets.
BULL SQUAD ON DUTY
IMM established Bull Capture Teams for escaped sacrificial animals. The teams, which will be kept ready at the animal care homes of the IMM Veterinary Services Directorate, will catch the escaped animals upon notice and return them to their owners.
IMM Police teams will also be on duty 24 hours a day in IMM's sacrifice sales and slaughter areas. It will carry out inspections to ensure that no cutting is done outside the designated areas. Police teams will continue their inspections throughout Istanbul to ensure that Istanbulites have a comfortable and peaceful holiday.
HYGIENE TEAMS ARE READY
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Health Affairs Department Vector Control Teams have intensified their vector control efforts, which have been ongoing for 12 months, to combat housefly larvae and adults, along with the entry of sacrificial animals into Istanbul. Sacrificial animal sales areas will be checked daily before and after the Eid in 39 districts of Istanbul, and necessary interventions will be made.
THOUSAND PERSONNEL WERE ASSIGNED FOR CLEANING
The mechanical sweeping, washing and manual cleaning activities that started in the Sacrifice Sales and Slaughtering Areas by the IMM Waste Management Branch Directorate teams will continue on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th days of the Feast and afterwards. Cleaning activities will be carried out in all main arteries of Istanbul, squares, underpasses and overpasses with 1000 personnel and an average of 250 vehicles per day. In addition, washing and sweeping activities will start in 97 cemeteries and 76 mosques throughout Istanbul as of June 2, 2025.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FREE
Personalized Istanbulkart owners will be able to use public transportation vehicles belonging to IMM free of charge during the 6-day holiday between June 9-4. IETT, Metro Istanbul and City Lines will provide additional services when necessary. City Lines will additionally provide services on the days connecting Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday on 06.06.2025 (Friday Night) and 07.06.2025 (Saturday Night).
