The Mother and Baby Festival, organized for the first time in Türkiye by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the Year of the Family, hosted special events for children, talks for parents and various performances.
After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared 2025 as the "Year of the Family", the Mother-Baby Festival, organized for the first time in Türkiye, was held for 2 days in the Festivals Park.
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, who visited the area on Mother's Day, visited the stands one by one and chatted with the citizens. Mayor Şahin, who came together with the children, watched the Baby Crawling Competition organized within the scope of the festival.
Cartoon characters accompanied families on the road consisting of stands, while mothers and children had the opportunity to spend time together in the organized workshops. In addition, talks on “Raising Children in the Digital Age with Prof. Dr. Yavuz Samur” and “Motherhood Begins Before Pregnancy with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruşen Atmaca!” were held in the area set up within the festival area.
In his statement about the festival, President Şahin said that mothers and babies can find everything they are looking for at the festival and said:
“Mothers and babies are here. Mother is compassion, mercy and labor. Mother is love and affection. She is a door to knock on, the first port to take shelter in, the first teacher. Our President declared the Year of the Family, our Minister of Family and Social Services is coming here on the 16th. We will launch the Family Card. We are holding this festival in a festival environment and an environment of affection with our children and mothers. We have 700 thousand children in the city. The city has a young population. We have worked intensively to make it an education city, a science city, a culture and art and sports city, and to prepare our youth in this festival for the future. Our first festival will continue to grow from now on. The interest is also very good. When you touch a child, you touch the family, when you touch the family, you touch the society. They are everything to us.”
