Kocaeli Smart Bicycle System (KOBİS), one of the environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation solutions of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, continues to spread throughout the city. Currently actively serving in 12 districts, the KOBİS project facilitates urban transportation while also providing significant integration to public transportation systems. The KOBİS stations in Seka Park, one of the important stops of this successful project, were taken under renovation to gain a modern appearance.
Modernization Move Started at Seka Park Stations
The KOBİS project, carried out by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, has been an important alternative for the people of Kocaeli in urban transportation since its establishment. Currently providing service with 5 main stations and 72 parking stations, KOBİS is pursuing a growth strategy that will both strengthen its current structure and expand its service network in the new period. As one of the first steps of this strategy, work has been initiated to provide a modern and aesthetic appearance to the KOBİS stations in the Seka Park area, one of the most popular recreational areas of the city.
Visual Innovation and Increased Parking Capacity
Within the scope of the renovation works carried out at KOBİS stations in Seka Park, the existing visual design of the stations was completely changed. Redesigned with a more modern, simple and stylish understanding, the totems and bicycle parking units were renewed in a way that would comply with the general aesthetics of Seka Park. In addition to this visual change, the number of bicycle parking units at the stations was also increased in order to allow more citizens to benefit from the KOBİS service. Thus, the capacity and accessibility of the system was significantly increased by allowing more bicycles to be parked and used at the same time. These renovation works support KOBİS's vision of not only being an environmentally friendly means of transportation, but also a modern transportation system that contributes to urban aesthetics.
