Niğde Governor Cahit Çelik and Ulukışla Deputy District Governor Yunus Köse conducted a comprehensive field inspection on the Karaman-Ulukışla High Speed Train Line route, which is under construction and is expected to make significant contributions to regional transportation. Governor Çelik received detailed information from project officials about the latest status of the work.
The Karaman-Ulukışla High Speed Train Project, which the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure attaches great importance to, includes a 130-kilometer double-track modern railway line that will radically change the transportation infrastructure of the region when completed. The project route has a strategic importance as it will connect the provinces of Karaman, Konya and Niğde, which pass through important industrial and agricultural regions of Türkiye. A total of 6 modern stations will be built on the line, namely Sudurağı, Ayrancı, Ereğli, Çakmak and Ulukışla, and these stations will provide passengers with a comfortable and safe transportation opportunity.
Fast and Comfortable Connection Between Çukurova and Central Anatolia
In the official statement made by the Niğde Governorship, it was emphasized that with the completion of the Karaman-Ulukışla High Speed Train Line, a fast, safe and comfortable passenger transportation opportunity will be provided between Çukurova and Central Anatolia, two important regions of Türkiye. It was stated that the targeted operating speed in the project is 200 kilometers per hour. Thanks to this high speed, travel times will be significantly shortened compared to current road transportation and passengers will save time.
It Will Serve Not Only Passenger Transport, But Also Strategic Freight Transport
In the statement, it was stated that the project does not only focus on passenger transportation, but will also make significant contributions to the country's strategic freight transportation. The Karaman-Ulukışla High Speed Train Line aims to integrate Türkiye's important logistics centers. In this context, a major maritime trade gate such as Mersin Port, an important land logistics base such as Yenice Logistics Center and advanced organized industrial zones between Adana-Gaziantep-Mersin will be connected to the inner parts of Anatolia quickly and safely. Thanks to this integration, security in freight transportation will be increased and significant efficiency in logistics processes is aimed to be achieved.
Intensive Work Continues at Construction Sites
In order to implement the project, an intensive work tempo continues at the construction sites. Currently, 580 personnel are working continuously in the field. Within the scope of the project, the construction of many engineering marvels such as station roads, long tunnels, modern bridges, safe overpasses, durable stone walls and useful open-close passages, as well as infrastructure and superstructure works are carried out simultaneously. While the final concrete coating operations in the T1 tunnel, which is one of the critical points of the project, have been successfully completed, excavation and support works are meticulously continuing in the T2 tunnel, another important passage. In addition, manufacturing activities continue uninterruptedly in the modern concrete plants and beam workshops established for the production of construction materials such as concrete and precast beams required by the project.
It Will Make a Great Contribution to Regional and National Development
At the end of the Niğde Governorship's statement, it was emphasized that the Karaman-Ulukışla High Speed Train Line, when completed, will not only strengthen the transportation infrastructure of the region, but will also make significant and strategic contributions to economic and social development throughout Turkey. With the implementation of the project, it is expected that trade in the region will be revived, industrial production will increase and tourism potential will increase. Fast and comfortable transportation opportunities can also encourage investments in the region and provide long-term economic growth. The Karaman-Ulukışla High Speed Train Line is an important part of Türkiye's transportation vision, allowing us to look to the future with hope.
