Important Development in Ankara-Samsun High Speed Train Project

An important stage has been reached in the high-speed train project that will connect Samsun to Ankara. It was announced that the construction work of the Kırıkkale-Samsun line has started. This development is considered an important transportation investment for Samsun and the surrounding provinces.

Project Details and Route

Within the scope of the project, the existing Ankara-Kırıkkale-Kayseri high-speed train line will be connected to Çorum, located in the middle of Samsun, via Kırıkkale. The construction tender for the 120-kilometer Delice-Sungurlu-Çorum section was won by a consortium consisting of Yapı Merkezi and YSE Yapı and work has begun. The project route will include 7 excavation tunnels, 3 cut-and-cover tunnels, 26 bridges and viaducts, 12 overpasses, 72 underpasses and 185 culverts. Additionally, stations will be built in Sungurlu, Çorum Industrial Zone and Çorum.

High-Speed Train Services to Begin in 2030

The Samsun-Ankara High Speed Train line is planned to open on January 3, 2030, and passenger services are planned to be carried out at speeds of 200 to 250 kilometers per hour. The tender for the second phase of the project, the Çorum-Havza section, is expected to be held this year. The new route in Havza will be connected to the recently renewed Sivas-Samsun line.

Travel Time Will Be Significantly Shortened

When the project is completed, the travel time between Samsun and Ankara, which exceeds 7 hours by road, will be reduced to approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes by high-speed train. In this way, passengers will both save time and have the opportunity to travel more comfortably.

This project will not only facilitate transportation between Samsun and Ankara, but will also positively affect trade, tourism and economic development in the region.
