Housing Application for OSB Employees Started in Manisa

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing project implemented for the employees of Manisa Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) and emphasized that this project is a first in Türkiye. Minister Kacır stated that with this new model, a holistic living space will be built where the accommodation, transportation and social needs of OIZ employees will be met.

A New Era Begins in Manisa OSB

Speaking at the ceremony held in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School sports hall, Minister Kacır stated that this project will provide significant momentum to Manisa's growth and development journey. Drawing attention to the fact that there is great competition in the innovative fields of technology, Kacır emphasized that developing national and original technologies will carry Türkiye to a bright future.

Record Investment Demand in Organized Industrial Zones

Minister Kacır stated that they open the vacant industrial areas in OIZs to investors’ access on the online platform on the first Monday of each month for allocation applications and that they carry out the pre-allocation application for rapid expropriation and infrastructure construction in newly established OIZs. Noting that a record number of investment land requests have emerged in OIZs thanks to these applications, Kacır said, “A record number of investment land requests have emerged in OIZs in the first 7 months of the application. 167 industrialists have applied for allocation for 13,2 parcels totaling 1173 million square meters in 2 OIZs. 386 industrialists have also applied for pre-allocation for 39 million square meters of land in 28 OIZs. Within the scope of the new application, we, as the Ministry, have granted an additional period of up to 980 years for industrialists who could not complete their investments on time to start production. Nearly 3 thousand industrialists have benefited from this opportunity.”

The Housing Model is Being Implemented for the First Time in Manisa

Minister Kacır stated that they took the lodging step in order to permanently increase the competitiveness of Turkish industry and said, “With this new model we have developed, we will build a holistic living space that will meet the social and cultural needs of our employees and their families, in addition to basic needs such as accommodation and transportation, with social facilities, sports facilities, children's playgrounds, education and nursery facilities. Our employees will be able to benefit from the modern living spaces, which will be built in harmony with urbanization plans and local architecture and owned by the OIZ, by paying a symbolic usage fee of approximately one-third of the rent in the cities where they live. “We are implementing the first application of this new lodging model that we developed for OSB here in Manisa, the address of firsts.”

An Exemplary Residential Area Will Be Built

Minister Kacır, who stated that they foresaw the number of employees within Manisa OSB to increase from 5 thousand to 62 thousand within 90 years, said, “In order to meet the housing need that will arise with increasing industrial employment, we are laying the foundation of a modern housing project of 3 thousand 650 houses for our employees. By expanding the project in stages, an exemplary settlement area that is integrated, sustainable and prioritizes quality of life with social facilities that will meet the housing needs of 15 thousand employees will be built. The housing houses that our OSBs will establish for their employees will also make a very valuable contribution to this tremendous initiative aimed at bringing our people together with safer, more peaceful and prosperous living spaces. We will take new steps in the upcoming period to create more planned industrial areas for our industry.”

After the speeches, Minister Kacır pressed the button and laid the foundation of the residences. At the end of the program, Minister Kacır met with the students at the high school where the ceremony was held, had dinner and chatted. This project is considered an important step that aims to increase the quality of life of OSB employees.
