The Koramaz Valley Museum, which was brought to life in line with the culture and tourism-focused vision of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, made a promising start for the region by hosting over 2 visitors on its first day. The museum will also be open free of charge on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
The projects that have been implemented step by step in line with the goal of making Kayseri, which is an open-air museum, a “city of museums” by Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, continue to bear fruit.
The Koramaz Valley Museum, established in the recently restored Çerkez Mustafa Bey Mansion, has attracted great interest since its first day. The museum hosted over 2 visitors on its opening day alone, making a remarkable debut in terms of Kayseri's cultural tourism.
In Kayseri, which is an open-air museum with its 6 thousand years of history, bringing together natural and cultural values such as the Koramaz Valley with the concept of museums was one of the most important reflections of the vision pioneered by Mayor Büyükkılıç.
Open Free of Charge on Youth and Sports Day
Stating that it will be open free of charge on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that they were particularly pleased with the interest shown by the museum, which was established with the contributions of the local people, and that such projects strengthen the cultural identity of the city and make permanent contributions to tourism.
“Every Valley, Every Stone Has a Story”
Emphasizing that efforts to reveal Kayseri's cultural potential will continue, Büyükkılıç said, "Every neighborhood, every valley, every stone has a story. We are working to make these stories visible," and stated that this interest is an important source of motivation in Kayseri's culture-based development journey.
The museum, which is themed as “A Love Story”, focuses on the love story of a young Muslim man, Oğuz, and a Greek girl, Suzan, inspired by real events. Through this narrative, the cultural diversity, historical depth and tradition of living together in the Koramaz Valley are conveyed to visitors. The museum also brings to life the historical texture of the Büyük Bürüngüz, Subaşı, Küçük Bürüngüz, Ağırnas, Turan, Vekse and Bağpınar neighborhoods through reenactments and objects.
Enriched with digital installation art and interactive areas, Koramaz Valley Museum offers its visitors not only an exhibition space but also a cultural experience that can be felt and internalized.
