
Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç gave the good news about the Uzunkum Living Area project, one of Trabzon's vision projects, after the important meetings they held in Ankara. Mayor Genç announced that the project, which will be implemented with a first phase of 250 acres, will start in a short time with the partnership of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Mass Housing Administration (TOKİ) and the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality.
The Project Shaped by Common Sense Has Reached the Implementation Stage
A meticulous work process was carried out for the Uzunkum Living Area project. Concept projects prepared by three different companies based in Austria, Istanbul and Trabzon were transformed into a single project around a common vision by sharing them with important institutions of the city such as Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ), Trabzon University, Avrasya University, district municipalities, Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO), Trabzon Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESOB) and Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB). In order to determine the implementation model of the project, a comprehensive meeting was held in Ankara under the chairmanship of the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum. Deputy Minister Ömer Bulut, Trabzon Deputies Adil Karaismailoğlu, Mustafa Şen, Yılmaz Büyükaydın, Vehbi Koç, AK Party Trabzon Provincial Chairman Sezgin Mumcu, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, TOKİ Chairman Mustafa Levent Sungur, Urban Transformation Chairman Hakkı Alp, Spatial Planning General Manager Erdal Kayapınar, Construction Works General Manager Murat Oral, National Real Estate General Manager Veli Tunçez and officials from the ministry and Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality attended the meeting.
Making statements after the meeting, Mayor Genç emphasized that the Uzunkum Living Area project is one of the most important vision projects of Trabzon and said, “Hopefully, this project will be implemented in a short time with the partnership of our Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, TOKİ and Metropolitan Municipality. All the initiatives we have carried out for the implementation of the project as soon as possible have received positive responses and we have now come to the implementation stage.”
A Living Space That Will Bring a New Breath to Trabzon
Regarding the details of the project, Mayor Genç said, “We will come together with TOKİ in a short time to clarify the implementation project and start the work. This project, the first stage of which will be built on an area of 250 acres, will bring a brand new living space to Trabzon. Uzunkum will give our fellow citizens a breath of fresh air with its social facilities, green areas and structure integrated with the sea. I hope it will bring good luck and fortune to our city in advance.” These words revealed how important a gain the project will be for the people of Trabzon.

Mayor Genç thanked everyone who contributed to the project reaching this stage and said, “I would like to express my gratitude to our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, our former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, our TBMM Zoning, Public Works and Tourism Commission Chairman and our Trabzon MP Adil Karaismailoğlu, our AK Party Deputy Chairman and Trabzon MP Mustafa Şen, our MPs Yılmaz Büyükaydın and Vehbi Koç, and our Provincial Chairman Sezgin Mumcu for their unwavering support during this process.
