First Step Taken in Hamilton LRT Project

The Ontario government is looking to transform public transit access across the province 3,4 billion dollar an investment Hamilton Light Rail (LRT) has officially launched its first request for proposals (RFP) for the project, representing a significant milestone in building a modern and reliable public transportation infrastructure in Hamilton.

Four Pre-Qualified Teams Invited for Construction

Four pre-qualified teams have been invited to bid for the first construction package. These teams have undergone a rigorous vetting process, but their names have not been disclosed at this stage.

The work to be carried out will include relocating public services, building roads and bridges, managing grade separations and 8,7 miles (about 14 km) It involves installing sidewalks and traffic signals along a corridor. This infrastructure will support a modern and reliable transportation network.

When the Hamilton LRT is completed it will be approximately 50.000 passengers It will connect to the Hamilton Street Railway and GO Transit systems, providing seamless access to bus and commuter rail services.
