Farmer Conversations in Eskişehir Shed Light on Producers

The “Farmer Talks” organized in cooperation with Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and Eskişehir Chamber of Agricultural Engineers continue to transfer knowledge and experience to Eskişehir producers. In the talks held in Günyüzü, İnönü districts and Kızılinler Neighborhood, expert academics and engineers met with farmers and offered solutions to the problems they encountered in their agricultural activities and shared important information about modern agricultural techniques.

Viticulture and Grain Cultivation Training from Experts

In the Günyüzü leg of the farmer talks, Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Faculty Member Dr. Turcan Teker provided comprehensive training for producers engaged in viticulture. Touching on many important topics from vineyard establishment techniques to the basic principles of pruning in viticulture and winter pruning, Dr. Teker explained in detail the critical role of correct sapling selection, appropriate planting methods, training systems and pruning on vineyard health and yield, taking into account the special climate and soil structure of Günyüzü district. In addition, the preventive and curative effects of pruning in combating diseases frequently encountered in vineyards were also emphasized.

In the İnönü district, Agricultural Engineer Dr. Cemal Çekiç gave an informative presentation on grain cultivation to the farmers of the region at the ESMEK building. Dr. Çekiç provided valuable information to the farmers about the most suitable grain varieties for İnönü's climate, correct soil processing techniques, ideal planting times, effective fertilization strategies and modern applications aimed at increasing grain yield.

Pumpkin Cultivation and Soil Analysis Support in Kızılinler

In the talk held in Kızılinler Neighborhood, ESOGÜ Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Ermiş guided farmers with practical examples to increase local production capacity. In particular, the soil requirements of pumpkin, which is an important product in the region, the ideal planting time, Correct fertilization and irrigation techniques as well as disease and pest control methods were discussed in detail. As part of the talk, producers were also provided with a free soil analysis service, providing important support for them to fertilize their fields according to their needs.

Thanks to Experts from Manufacturers

In all the interviews, producers had the opportunity to ask questions directly to experts on topics they were curious about. At the end of the training, certificates of appreciation were presented to the academicians who shared their knowledge and experience with farmers by Agricultural Support Branch Manager Ertuğrul Çakıcıer and ZMO Eskişehir Branch President Selma Güder.

Such training and support activities, implemented by Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, continue to make significant contributions to Eskişehir producers in increasing their agricultural knowledge, learning modern agricultural techniques and thus achieving more efficient and sustainable production.
