
Work continues rapidly in the “İzmit Train Station Elevator Construction Work”, which was re-tendered by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. The elevator is being built in the area where the existing stairs are located at the point connecting Cumhuriyet Street and Ruşen Hakkı Street. This project aims to facilitate citizens' access to the train station.
Modern Design and Comprehensive Work
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality is adding new ones to its elevator and escalator projects throughout the city for the safety and comfort of its citizens. In this context, a modern elevator is being brought to the area where Izmit Train Station is located. The following are being carried out within the scope of the work:
- Construction using 2 tons of all kinds of profiles, steel bars and steel sheets.
- 60 square meters of aluminum composite facade cladding.
- Covering of 130 square meter elevator towers with aluminum profiles and tempered glass.
- Double entry, Construction of a 13 person capacity elevator.
- Other miscellaneous works included in the annex of the administrative specifications.
Great Convenience for Disabled and Elderly Citizens
This elevator, which was built for citizens to reach Izmit Train Station easily, will make it easy and comfortable for elderly, disabled and sick citizens to access the train station. In addition, transportation to Saygınlar Club in Şelale Park, which is located next to the Clock Tower, one of the symbols of Izmit and is offered to citizens aged 65 and over by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, will become more practical thanks to this elevator.
The Metropolitan Municipality had previously imposed penal action within legal frameworks on the company that had won the tender for elevator construction and had not carried out the work, and then held a new supply tender to complete the “İzmit Station Elevator Construction Work”. With this project, İzmit is taking another important step towards modernizing its public transportation infrastructure and strengthening its citizen-focused service approach.
