
Efeler Yolu Ultra Trail, which will be run among the unique natural beauties and historical riches of İzmir, will bring together nature and sports enthusiasts on May 24-25. Organized by Argeus Travel & Events, this prestigious race will be held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, İzmir Governorship, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), Athletics Federation and M1G Search and Rescue, and with the sponsorship of PT Academy, ViewSonic and Züber. Efeler Yolu Ultra Trail will offer athletes the opportunity to compete fiercely on 5 different courses, each more challenging and equally enjoyable. Registration for the organization will end on Monday, May 19.
Efe and Zeybek Themed Cultural Route
Efeler Yolu stands out as a 500-kilometer, multi-stage, and marked hiking trail that starts from the Bornova district of İzmir, crosses the Nif Mountain and Bozdağ mountain ranges, tours the plateaus of Kiraz, and ends at Meryemana in Efes-Selçuk via the Aydın mountain range. This special cultural route, which deals with the theme of Efe and Zeybek, covers a wide geography and includes important villages that carry cultural richness to the present day with its virgin plateaus and mountain diversity. Efeler Yolu, which earned its place among the Green Destinations 'Top 2023 Stories' in 100 with its works aimed at responsible tourism and its distinctive features, consists of a total of 27 stages, 1 main stages and 28 alternative line. With its stage lengths ranging from 14 to 24 kilometers, the Efeler Yolu has medium-difficult and difficult degrees and is also the address for challenges in touch with nature. The main stages of the Efeler Road are marked with red and white, while the alternative route is marked with red and yellow. In addition to standard signaling, red markings on the road provide access to mountain peaks, cultural heritage sites or important viewpoints on the routes. Hikers can also follow the route through applications such as Wikiloc, FatMap and AllTrails.
Challenging and Enjoyable Challenge on Five Different Courses
Offering a unique course with its natural, historical, cultural and archaeological riches, Efeler Yolu Ultra Trail will provide participants with a challenging and enjoyable race experience with 80 different courses, 50K, 30K, 15K, 5K and 5K. In this ultra trail race, which will take place on the trails, athletes will compete at different levels of difficulty at different distances.
- 80K: In this longest track, athletes will climb over 3 meters, follow the Birgi, Ovacık, Tekke, Bozdağ Ski Center, Karakoyun Yaylası, Bozdağ Summit route and return to Birgi. This track offers a real challenge for athletes with ultra trail experience.
- 50K: In the 50-kilometer track, athletes will climb over 2 meters, follow the Birgi, Ovacık, Tekke, Bozdağ Ski Center, Bozdağ Summit route and finish the race in Birgi. This track is an ideal option for athletes with long-distance running experience.
- 30K: Athletes on the 30-kilometer track, They will climb over 300 meters, follow the Birgi, Ovacık, Tekke route and return to Birgi. This route has a suitable difficulty level for athletes with intermediate level ultra trail experience.
- 15K: On the 15-kilometer track, athletes will climb over 500 meters, starting from Birgi and returning to Birgi. This track offers a beginner-level experience for athletes who are new to the ultra-trail world.
- 5K: In the 5-kilometer track, athletes will climb over 100 meters, starting from Birgi and finishing the race in Birgi. This track is a shorter and more enjoyable option suitable for running and nature walkers.
The starting and finishing points of all courses will be the historical Birgi neighborhood of Ödemiş district of İzmir. This will provide athletes with both a challenging race experience and the opportunity to run in a historical and cultural atmosphere.
