WATER SPORTS ARE BECOMING WIDESPREAD IN KOCAELI
The Metropolitan Municipality, which continues to increase the city's sports culture and brand value with the huge investments it has implemented on the coasts of Kocaeli, presents a great vision with the support it gives to water sports. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tahir Büyükakın, who paved the way for Kocaeli to become a pioneer province in water sports, aims to make the Gulf a center that hosts international water sports competitions by keeping the vision of integrating the city with the sea at the forefront and attaches importance to popularizing water sports throughout Kocaeli.
WATER SPORTS TRAINING CENTER OPENS
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Basiskele Karşıyaka The Başiskele Water Sports Training Center, which was completed on the coast, is opening on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The opening of the training center, which will be held with a water sports festival, will be attended by the city protocol and the sailing and rowing clubs in Kocaeli. As part of the festival, events such as sea canoeing, rowing, dragon boat, beach volleyball, tug of war, giant jenga, penalty competition, rowing ergometer experience and water wars will be organized in the area.
THE FACILITY WAS BUILT FULLY EQUIPPED
The Başiskele Water Sports Training Center, affiliated with the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, will provide service in a total area of 2 square meters. The facility includes an indoor rowing and canoe boathouse, an indoor sailing boathouse, 109 changing rooms, 4 club rooms, 7 cafeteria, 1 gym, 1 prayer rooms, 2 toilets and 2 classroom. In addition to the water sports clubs operating in our province, the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Kağıtspor Club will operate in the canoe, rowing and sailing branches.
IT WILL CARRY KOCAELI TO A PROFESSIONAL POSITION
The Metropolitan Municipality, which makes great contributions to the development of sports in the country with the international championships and tournaments it organizes on the shores of Kocaeli, is proud to bring another important facility to Kocaeli that will contribute to the vision of integrating the city with the sea in terms of water sports. In the newly constructed Başiskele Water Sports Training Center, many sailing and rowing athletes will be able to work all year round and will also have the opportunity to train with athletes who will come from abroad for camps.
