The RES Project, which was carried out for the first time among municipalities in the field of transportation in Türkiye and became a reference, was completed in 9 months with the dedication of the Metropolitan Municipality, and Mayor Büyükkılıç said, "We are the only municipality with this project among 30 metropolitan cities. We are breaking new ground."
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç introduced the first and only Wind Power Plant Project used in transportation between municipalities in Türkiye, which was implemented and started production in a short time by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Inc., with the participation of Metropolitan Council Members and members of the press.
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, in his statement regarding the 3 megawatt Wind Power Plant (RES) investment consisting of 21 turbines located on the foothills of Erciyes, emphasized that the project was completed and put into service in a short period of approximately 9 months.
Regarding the RES, which he described as an ‘indispensable’, President Büyükkılıç said, “One of the biggest energy expenses was Ulaşım A.Ş. As we implemented this project through Ulaşım A.Ş., we see that our Wind Power Plants have now come to life here, all together.”
Büyükkılıç Emphasized That the Project Was Completed in 9 Months
Büyükkılıç, who emphasized that it is not possible for the RES project to be completed before 2 years, added that the RES project was completed in approximately 9 months and started production. President Büyükkılıç stated that they produced exactly 13 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in 1,5 days, and said that they used half of the energy obtained for transportation energy and the other half to cover the project's own costs. Büyükkılıç stated that the RES project, which he said would pay for itself in an average of 4 years, is in a position to produce electricity 24 hours a day.
“The Work Conducted Is Worth a Lifetime”
Providing information about the project, President Büyükkılıç said, “The work done is worth a lifetime. 24 opinions and approvals were received from 35 institutions. We contributed to the acceleration process. Apart from our 6-kilometer turbine road, 750 thousand cubic meters of excavation, 285 tons of iron, 1950 cubic meters of concrete, 1 transformer center, and a 6-kilometer energy transmission line, all of these are included in this project. We also built our energy transmission line. It was an important project in that respect.”
Büyükkılıç Announced the 40 Megawatt Solar Power Plant Project to be Implemented by KASKİ
Büyükkılıç emphasized that they are trying to implement services that contribute to the country and city economy with a winning, profitable and environmentalist approach, and gave the good news that KASKİ will implement the 40-megawatt solar power plant project. President Büyükkılıç said, “The call letter for the 40-megawatt power plant of KASKİ is currently available, hopefully we will be putting out to tender soon. We will implement the 40-megawatt solar power plant project there as well. We have 6,5 megawatts. Both our KASKİ and our Transportation Inc. are our biggest expense item in terms of energy. In that respect, we are trying to implement services that are self-sufficient, winning, profitable and environmentalist, and contribute to the country and city economy.”
“We Are Signing the Bests”
Büyükkılıç also thanked İncesu Municipality, KCETAŞ, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, deputies and ministers who supported the project works and said, “When our President visited Kayseri and we shared this project with excitement, he appreciated it by saying, ‘so you have built a RES’. We are the only municipality with this project among 30 metropolitan cities. We are setting our mark on the best.”
Mayor Büyükkılıç also pointed out that they experienced the blessing of solidarity in Kayseri, and added that the 1 billion lira RES project will provide an annual gain of 250 million TL, and stated that the city gained with the project.
Ozer: “The work being done now is really correct and good”
The Metropolitan Municipality Council CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özer described the project as a correct and good work and said, “The work that is being done now is really a correct and good work. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. I hope it will be beneficial and auspicious for Kayseri.”
“We Are Able to Meet All of Our Energy Consumption with Double the Amount”
Transportation Inc. General Manager Mehmet Canbulut also shared that a 6-kilometer energy transmission line was built and said, “Kayseri Transportation Inc.’s annual energy consumption is 30 million kilowatts/hour. What we expect here is around 60 million kilowatts/hour. Again, our electric buses will be added to the system, and due to other consumptions, we have also built our Solar Power Plant of around 2 megawatts as of last year as Metropolitan Transportation Inc. In other words, we are in a position to meet all of our electricity-related energy consumption, with twice the amount. We pray that they will serve our city for many years.”
Thanks to the Metropolitan Municipality for its Vision and Determination, which is a Reference Among the Municipalities
Contractor company official Samet Koç, in his information about the RES project, stated that they were promoting a big city on behalf of Turkey and Kayseri, and pointed out that this was the first municipality to build a Wind Power Plant, and said the following:
“We are currently in front of the power plant. This is truly a matter of vision and determination. Many municipalities are reaching out to us on this issue. Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya municipalities are all asking about the project and are nominating themselves to do the project, but this project was not something that everyone could do and it was completed in a very short time. I would like to thank my mayor and the members of the council for having this vision and determination.”
Stating that the RES project was completed in a short time as a result of the devoted and diligent work of the municipality employees, Koç said, “Normally, our licensed projects can be completed in periods of 2-3 years. These are really long-term projects, but they were completed with the great effort of our municipality and put into service for the benefit of the public.”
Providing information about the technical details of the project, Koç stated that the wings were brought from India to all of Africa and that the project was implemented with great efforts in a difficult geography.
In addition to Mayor Büyükkılıç, district mayors, Metropolitan Municipality Council Members, Metropolitan Municipality assistant general secretaries, department heads, Transportation Inc., KASKİ, KCETAŞ general managers and members of the press attended the launch.
