Hosted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and organized by Demos Fair Organization for the second time this year, the IAAF – Izmir Art and Antiques Fair was met with great interest from art lovers at Fuar Izmir between May 7-11. The fair, where more than 1500 thousand paintings and sculptures of over 8 local and foreign artists from all over the world were exhibited, brought the magical atmosphere of art and antiques to Izmir. In addition to various artistic events, concerts by world-famous artists Gülsin Onay, Kerem Görsev and Hakan Aysev added color to the fair. Participating artists expressed their satisfaction with the warm welcome in Izmir and the interest shown by art lovers, and expressed their belief that the fair will grow even more in the coming years. Artists Praise Izmir
The participating artists of the fair expressed that they were very pleased with the atmosphere in Izmir and the attention shown.
Painter Gunes Caglarcan: Painter Güneş Çağlarcan, who stated that he participated in the fair last year as well, expressed his satisfaction with the interest of art lovers in İzmir with the words, “The interest is very good. Being here is very enjoyable as always. I met 1500 people here last year. There is a similar intensity this year, it is very pleasing. The most intense, the most beautiful interest is always in İzmir. It is very pleasing as an artist.”
Visual Arts Teacher Fulden Polat: Continuing her work in the field of ceramics and sculpture, Visual Arts Teacher Fulden Polat said, “I participated here with my 'My Little People' series. I am an artist born and raised in Izmir. I am sure that the third and fourth fairs will be even better,” emphasizing her belief in the future of the fair.
Artist Irmak Demirel: Artist Irmak Demirel, who was impressed by the atmosphere of the fair, stated, “It is a very nice, warm and colorful atmosphere. I was at the fair last year as well. As a young artist from Izmir, I am always happy and honored to be here.” and expressed the importance of the fair for her.
Ceramic Artist Atila Çakır: Ceramic artist Atila Çakır, who has been involved in ceramic art for 27 years, stated that he mainly works on animal figures and said, “This collection started with pigeons 21 years ago. I worked with dozens of different animal figures.” Çakır also underlined the great contribution of the fair to the cultural life of İzmir.
Artist Sermin Ayşe Tepe: Artist Şermin Ayşe Tepe, who attended the fair from Istanbul, said, “I attended last year as well. I am here again as an Istanbul artist. I am very pleased, the interest is very good. I think it will be much better in the future. Although it is being organized for the second time, we are very pleased with the interest. We had the opportunity to meet many people,” and expressed her satisfaction that the fair increased the interaction between artists.
