Ankara Metropolitan Municipality EGO General Directorate, which has the most environmentally friendly bus fleet in Europe, continues its R&D studies without interruption in line with its vision of sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation. An important step was taken within the scope of the studies carried out with the aim of further developing the existing CNG fueled vehicle fleet and increasing the number of electric buses. Within the framework of the cooperation protocol made with Otokar company, E-Kent C brand solo type electric bus was included in the EGO fleet free of charge for 30 days and test drives started.
Electric Bus Being Tested on Gölbaşı Routes
The electric bus in question was directed from the Gölbaşı Bus Departure Point and started test runs on routes between various neighborhoods of the district and the city center of Ankara. During these test runs, EGO General Directorate’s expert teams meticulously monitor the vehicle’s performance under real road conditions and conduct detailed technical evaluations. In particular, critical parameters such as the vehicle’s range, energy consumption, road holding, comfort level and compatibility with the charging infrastructure are closely examined.
EGO's Sustainable Transportation Vision
With this step, EGO General Directorate once again demonstrates its determination to minimize carbon emissions, expand the use of environmentally friendly transportation vehicles and support sustainable urban transportation systems. EGO, which closely follows innovative technologies for the future and attaches great importance to R&D studies, is conducting a comprehensive preparation process for the integration of electric buses into the fleet. The data to be obtained from these test drives will create an important roadmap for future electric bus investments. This environmentally friendly approach of EGO will make significant contributions to the improvement of Ankara’s air quality and the sustainability of urban life.
