
A sad work accident occurred during the viaduct works in the Gümüşçay area of the Alaşehir district of Manisa, as part of the İzmir-Ankara high-speed train line construction. In the accident, 9 workers were injured as a result of the ground collapsing during the iron laying works.
The accident occurred at around 17:00 at the high-speed train line viaduct construction site in the Gümüşçay Neighborhood of Alaşehir. According to information received, while iron laying work was ongoing on the viaduct, the iron-paved floor collapsed for an unknown reason. As a result of the collapse, 9 workers at the scene were injured.
Following the accident, numerous gendarmerie and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the area. After the injured workers received first aid at the scene, they were taken to various hospitals in the Alaşehir district by ambulance. It was learned that the workers who were taken to the hospital were not in mortal danger and that their conditions were good.
Gendarmerie teams have launched a detailed investigation at the scene to determine the cause of the accident. The manner in which the accident occurred, safety precautions and possible negligence are being meticulously examined by the gendarmerie. Such work accidents on an important infrastructure project such as the Izmir-Ankara high-speed train line have once again revealed how critical work safety precautions are. Authorities are expected to take the necessary precautions as a result of the investigation and implement stricter controls to prevent similar accidents.
