
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change answered 14 frequently asked questions about Türkiye's first Climate Law. The draft law, which includes 20 articles, 2 temporary articles and amendments to 3 different laws, will provide a legal basis for combating climate change.
With the Climate Law; the creation of cities resistant to the devastating effects of disasters caused by climate change, environmentally friendly production with the promotion of renewable energy sources, protection of biodiversity and green areas will be ensured. The measures to be taken to increase water and food security will be put under legal regulation. The preparation of local and national action plans will be provided with the law proposal that includes the regulations to be made for the economy, cities, agriculture and food sectors, especially critical sectors, to be least affected by the climate crisis. In order to reduce the losses and damages caused by disasters, risk assessment, monitoring, information and early warning systems will be developed based on integrated disaster management. In order to increase the international competitiveness of the sectors, the environmentally friendly production process will be put under legal guarantee.
