Balıkesir Provincial Gendarmerie Command Traffic teams continue their traffic awareness activities for children, who are the drivers and pedestrians of the future. Traffic rules were conveyed to student groups between the ages of 6 and 15 in an entertaining way at the special stand and training areas set up in Necmettin Erbakan Square. In the trainings supported by theoretical information as well as practical applications, the importance of seat belts was experienced by citizens one-on-one with a simulation vehicle.
Theoretical Knowledge Reinforced with Practice
Gendarmerie Traffic teams provided theoretical information to children on topics such as the meaning of traffic lights, the correct use of pedestrian crossings and basic rules to be followed in vehicles at the stands they set up in the square. In the special traffic education area established to increase the memorability of this information, children had the opportunity to put into practice what they learned. Little students were informed about the importance of wearing seat belts, crossing priorities at traffic lights and safe pedestrian crossing use through educational games and activities.
Vital Lesson with Seat Belt Simulation
The most striking part of the training was the seat belt simulation vehicle set up in the square. Thanks to this vehicle, citizens had the opportunity to experience firsthand how vital the seat belt is in the event of a possible accident. The jolts and sudden stops experienced during the simulation strikingly demonstrated how the seat belt stabilizes the body and prevents possible injuries. This experience allowed both children and adults to better understand the importance of seat belt use.
Children Learned and Had Fun
Children had the opportunity to learn traffic rules without getting bored and having fun during traffic trainings that lasted all day long. Traffic awareness was instilled from a young age thanks to the interactive presentations, educational games and practical applications of the gendarmerie teams. At the end of the event, brochures and small gifts reminding children of traffic rules were distributed. In this way, awareness was created about traffic safety and children were also provided with a positive connection with the gendarmerie teams. This meaningful event of the Balıkesir Provincial Gendarmerie Command made a significant contribution to the development of conscious drivers and pedestrians of the future.
