The goose breeding project, which was implemented under the leadership of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, is an important source of income for producers in the region. Within the scope of the project, a modern poultry slaughterhouse was established for geese raised in Ordu and free service was started to be provided to producers. In addition, the problem of chick supply was solved with the Goose Hatchery established in Fatsa district.
Goose Sales from Ordu to Kars: Purchase Guarantee Gives Confidence to Producers
President Güler announced that during his inspections at the Goose Hatchery in Fatsa, geese raised in Ordu were sold in bulk to Kars. Güler stated that they set out with the motto, “You produce, if you cannot sell, I will buy,” and emphasized that the purchase guarantee was an important source of confidence for producers. He stated that they restarted the purchase guaranteed goose breeding process last year and that this initiative attracted great interest from producers. He stated that 860 of the geese slaughtered free of charge at the poultry slaughterhouse established within the municipality were sold to Kars.
Modern Goose Hatchery in Fatsa: Chick Supply Problem Solved
President Güler announced that they have also found a solution to the chick supply problem, which is one of the biggest problems of producers. He stated that a modern Goose Hatchery was established in Fatsa in order to prevent the supply of chicks from other provinces at high costs and sometimes with supply difficulties. He said that this center, which consists of incubation cabinets, hatching machines and mother's lap machines, has a production capacity of approximately 5 thousand goose chicks per year. He stated that next year, together with the producers, they will have the infrastructure to easily produce over 10 thousand chicks.
Great Support for Manufacturers: Contribution to the Regional Economy
The Ordu Metropolitan Municipality's goose breeding project makes significant contributions to the regional economy. While the purchase guarantee to producers allows them to continue their production processes safely, the solution to the chick supply problem with the modern hatchery also reduces production costs. In this way, goose breeding producers in Ordu become more competitive, while the regional economy is also revived.
