Europe's largest career platform, Marmara Career Fair (MARMARAKAF), continues to inspire young people who can make a career with events at Kocaeli Congress Center. One of the attention-grabbing records of this important meeting was the presentation of Türkiye's first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı. In his interview titled "Türkiye's First Manned Space Mission", Gezeravcı shared his space travel experiences and studies with young people.
The reunification of 14 universities and the second fair organized under the coordination of the Presidency Human Resources Office, in cooperation with the Kocaeli Governorship and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality were held at the Kocaeli Congress Center. The fair, hosted by Kocaeli University, continues to build bridges between the business world and young talents with more than 700 events held simultaneously.
The event program offers registration and graduates not only the opportunity to discover job and internship opportunities, but also the opportunity to attend meetings from various sectors, participate in workshops, listen to inspiring talks and contribute to their personal development. This talent, Türkiye's first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, met by appointment at the talk in Akçakoca Hall.
Write Your Own Success Stories
Alper Gezeravcı, who said that they carried out 15 programs in 160 cities in the 355 months following the space mission, said, “This situation is not a favor presented to our class, it is our debt. The successes you dream of in your career and journey after graduation are possible not with the ones followed by other countries, but with the beautiful success stories achieved by those followed by this country. As long as we know how to look.
In fact, as the Republic of Turkey, we are not a stranger to space. When we look at history books, we see that many Turkish scholars such as Fergani and Ali Kuşçu have made great contributions not only to the Turkish nation but also to the world's scientific stages. However, from time to time, due to difficulties, there were periods when we were far from comprehending this wealth. In the last 1984 years, with the establishment of TÜBİTAK Space in 40, we have carried out important studies in the field of space.
However, our biggest shortcoming was the proliferation of these markets in the initiatives of different companies and the lack of a central policy. Finally, the Turkish Space Agency was established with a Presidential Decree published in 2018. This institution, which has the least institutional memory compared to its dry counterparts, formed Türkiye's National Space Program after two years of intensive work, with the guidance of our state. 10 goals were determined in this program and shared with the public. Today, we are talking about the justified pride of the Turkish Astronaut and Science Mission, which is only one of these 10 goals. However, more beautiful pride pictures continue to take shape within their own analyses,” he concluded.
The talk ended with the presentation of a plaque to Alper Gezeravcı by Kocaeli University Secretary General Mustafa Eren.
