Bursa Metropolitan Municipality has taken action to prevent possible negative effects on stream beds due to the increase in temperatures and to provide a healthier environment for city residents. In this context, a comprehensive cleaning operation was initiated in Mandıras Stream in Kestel district upon intense demands from citizens.
The Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its projects that will carry Bursa to the future, attaches great importance to cleaning and improvement works in stream beds, keeping environmental health in the foreground. Bursa Water and Sewerage Administration (BUSKİ) General Directorate and Tarım Peyzaj AŞ affiliated teams are carrying out a meticulous cleaning work in the 1600-meter-long and 15-meter-wide Mandıras Stream in Kestel. 3 trucks, 1 CBS (Environmental Information System vehicle), TIR and cranes are actively used in the works. The teams clean the waste in the stream bed, regulate the water flow and aim to prevent possible bad odors and pest problems.
The Metropolitan Municipality will not be limited to Mandıras Stream alone, but will continue these cleaning efforts in stream beds at different points of the city throughout the summer. The aim is to create a cleaner, healthier and more livable environment throughout Bursa. Regular cleaning of stream beds both reduces the risk of floods and contributes to the prevention of environmental pollution. These efforts stand out as a concrete indicator of the Metropolitan Municipality’s environmentally sensitive management approach.
