
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that they met with lemon producers and exporters and said, “The temporary restriction on lemon exports has been lifted and price developments in the domestic market will be closely monitored and inspections will continue in the upcoming period.”
In a post on his social media account, Bolat stated that he met with lemon producers from various regions of Türkiye at the Ministry as soon as he returned from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he went for various commercial contacts.
Bolat, who reported that the deputy ministers of Commerce and Agriculture and Forestry, AK Party deputies and provincial chairmen were present at the meeting, stated that farmers, exporters, heads of chambers of commerce and agriculture from Mersin, Adana and Antalya as well as Erdemli, Silifke, Tarsus, Finike and Kozan attended the meeting.
“Speculative activities will be combated”
Bolat reported that the demands and expectations of the sector representatives, supply security, steps to be taken to ensure price balance in supply and demand, and the roadmap for the upcoming period were discussed at the meeting, and noted the following:
“During the meeting, we agreed with the valuable participants that speculative activities will not be allowed until the new harvest to ensure our people’s access to lemon products at reasonable prices and that price stability will be ensured. In this regard, the temporary restriction on lemon exports has been lifted and price developments in the domestic market will be closely monitored and inspections will be continued in the upcoming period. As the government, we will continue to protect and support our farmers, producers, exporters, tradesmen and consumers.”
