TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries), a major player in the Turkish aviation industry, has achieved a significant success for the civil configuration of the T625 GÖKBEY Utility Helicopter. The company has been awarded the Production Organization Approval (POA) document issued by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM).
TUSAŞ made its official application to SHGM on July 625, 24 to obtain the POA certificate for the T2020 GÖKBEY Civil Helicopter project. Following the application, TUSAŞ's quality management system, production processes and flight activities were subjected to detailed audits by SHGM between 2021 and 2024. Following the successful completion of these comprehensive audits, the GÖKBEY Project was deemed worthy of receiving the Production Organization Approval certificate on December 30, 2024.
The way has been opened for civil operations
This approval, which officially documents that an aircraft complies with certain safety, performance and regulatory requirements, takes TUSAŞ’s reliability to the next level. Thanks to the POA document, it will be possible to use the T625 GÖKBEY Civil Helicopter in commercial operations. This development will pave the way for the GÖKBEY Civil Helicopter to reach wider audiences and access large markets, providing TUSAŞ with a significant advantage in these competitive markets.
Superior Features of GÖKBEY Helicopter
Developed primarily for the Turkish Armed Forces and for friendly and allied countries to which it is planned to be exported, the GÖKBEY helicopter can effectively perform day and night operations at high altitudes and temperatures, even in difficult climate conditions and geographies, with its TEI (TUSAŞ Engine Industries Inc.) production TS1400 Turboshaft engines. With a total take-off weight of 6 tons, a passenger capacity of 12, a maximum speed of 306 kilometers per hour and a service ceiling of 20 thousand feet, the GÖKBEY offers an endurance of 3,8+ hours. This period increases to 5+ hours with an external fuel tank, while the helicopter can reach a maximum range of 948 kilometers.
On the other hand, the structural, avionic and mechanical system designs of T625 GÖKBEY aim to maximize operational readiness and minimize maintenance costs.
