
The “Play Exchange Program”, implemented between Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres (IzBBŞT) and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre, continues to offer art lovers theatrical delights of different cities. Within the scope of this meaningful collaboration, Bursa City Theatre's highly acclaimed play “Solomon and the Others”, met with theater lovers from Izmir and was met with great interest.
Bursa Breeze on Izmir Stage: Thousands of Viewers Reached with Five Performances
Inspired by Max Frisch's famous work "Biedermann and the Arsonists", Yavuz Pekman skillfully adapted it to the geography of Türkiye. “Solomon and the Others”, performed five different shows on 10-11-12 and 13 April at İzBBŞT İsmet İnönü Stage. The play managed to get full marks from İzmir theatre lovers with the impressive performances of its strong cast and its remarkable stage design. Reaching a large number of viewers, “Süleyman ve Öbürsüler” once again demonstrated how successful a project the “Play Exchange Program” is.
Levent Üzümcü: “Sharing with Theatre is Very Important”
Expressing his feelings after the event, İzBBŞT General Art Director Levent Üzümcü emphasized the unifying and sharing power of theater. Üzümcü said, “We exchange our plays and bring them together with the audiences in our cities on certain calendars. In this way, we see how important it is to share with theater. The feelings you felt while watching this play here were felt by the audience living in Bursa last week. On behalf of İzmir and İzmir City Theaters, I would like to thank Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theater General Art Director Ali Düşenkalkar, who was with us on this path.”
Ali Düşenkalkar: “We Will Come Together More Often”
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theater General Art Director Ali Düşenkalkar also expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration and spoke with hope for future projects. Düşenkalkar said, “We brought the greetings of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey. We hope to continue our collaboration, come together more often, and be more guests on each other’s stage. We have many people to thank. First of all, we would like to thank İzBBŞT General Art Director Levent Üzümcü, the İzmir City Theater staff who hosted us wonderfully, the cats of this institution, and all the people of İzmir.”
“Game Change Program” Will Grow: Target Different Cities
At the end of the event, a plaque was presented to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre General Art Director Ali Düşenkalkar by the Deputy Head of the İzBB Culture and Social Affairs Department Yener Ceylan, and flowers were given to the City Theatre actors. Yener Ceylan expressed his wish that this valuable sharing between the two theatres would continue to increase. It is aimed to expand this exemplary “Play Exchange Program” initiated by İzmir City Theatres and Bursa City Theatre in the future. By including theatres in different cities in the project, it is aimed to offer theatre lovers a much more diverse and rich selection of plays within a year.
