Strong Collaboration for Stray Dogs in Eskişehir

Three major municipalities in Eskişehir have signed an exemplary cooperation for the welfare and population control of stray dogs. With the protocol signed with the participation of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce, Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt and Tepebaşı Mayor Ahmet Ataç, joint action will be taken in the processes of neutering and registering stray dogs.

Sterilization and Identification in District Municipalities

According to the signed protocol, Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı Municipalities will perform the neutering and digital identification processes of stray dogs in their areas of responsibility. Following these important steps, the dogs in question will be delivered to the modern Animal Shelter and Natural Habitat operated by Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality.

Areas of Responsibility of District Municipalities

Odunpazarı Municipality will carry out work on stray dogs in the central district as well as in Çifteler, Günyüzü, Han, Mahmudiye and Sivrihisar districts within its own Animal Shelter. Tepebaşı Municipality will carry out similar work in the Natural Life Center for dogs in Alpu, Beylikova, İnönü, Mihalgazi, Mihalıççık and Sarıcakaya districts.

Coordination Center from the Metropolitan Municipality

In order for the protocol to work effectively, a “Coordination Center” will be established within the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality. This center will forward the stray dog reports and complaints from citizens to the relevant district municipalities as soon as possible and provide a rapid solution process. For reports from rural districts, dog collection vehicles belonging to the relevant municipalities will be activated and the dogs will be delivered to the care centers safely.

Care and Adoption in Natural Habitat

Dogs collected as strays will first undergo health procedures such as neutering, necessary medical treatments, parasite control and vaccination. Then, they will be registered with a digital identification method. After all these procedures are completed, the dogs will be carefully cared for in the modern Natural Living Area of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality on Seyitgazi Road, which is about to be completed. While the adoption processes are carried out meticulously, the welfare, care and health of the animals will be the top priority.

With this cooperation protocol, the municipalities in Eskişehir aim to demonstrate a common will to solve the problem of stray dogs and ensure that stray animals live in a safer, healthier and more controlled environment. This exemplary solidarity can also be a guide for other provinces.
