Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Russia used 70 missiles and 145 drones in its latest attacks, which resulted in the deaths of at least 9 people and injuries to more than 80 people. Zelenskyy stated that the attacks targeted civilians and caused great destruction.
Attacks Continue Despite Ceasefire Calls
Zelensky recalled that 44 days have passed since Ukraine reached an agreement on a complete ceasefire and a cessation of hostilities. Noting that this agreement was made at the request of the United States, Zelensky said, “And it has been 44 days since Russia continued to kill our people and avoided harsh pressure and accountability for its actions.” Zelensky stressed that the international community should not remain silent on this situation.
Destruction and loss of life are increasing
Zelenskyy, describing the extent of the destruction caused by the attacks, said: “Unfortunately, there is significant destruction. Rescue operations are ongoing and the rubble of residential buildings is being cleared. So far, more than 80 people have been injured throughout Ukraine. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance. Unfortunately, 9 people lost their lives in Kiev. My condolences to their families and loved ones.” The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also stated that Russia’s aim is to create more death, destruction and fear and called on the international community to take tougher measures against Russia.
