Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) made a statement denying the allegations that the funeral bus belonging to IMM was carrying people to the CHP rally in Yozgat.
The statement said, “On April 19, 2025, an unfounded and perception-oriented photo was shared on social media platforms claiming that a funeral bus belonging to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) was carrying people to the CHP rally in Yozgat. The bus with the license plate 34 ZC 7853 in question is an official vehicle used in the funeral transport service of the IMM Cemeteries Department. This vehicle departed from Istanbul at 18:2025 on April 21.30, 42; and transported the body of our citizen named Zeynep DOĞRU, along with 19 relatives of the deceased, to Yozgat-Saraykent on the morning of April 15.00. Following the funeral ceremony that took place at noon, the vehicle set off back to Istanbul at XNUMX:XNUMX.”
In a statement made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, it was stated that the photo in question was taken at the gendarmerie checkpoint at the Saraykent exit while the vehicle was stopped, and the following was recorded:
“The fact that this photo was then circulated on social media in an organized manner through some troll accounts clearly shows that the ground was prepared for a perception operation by certain circles. IMM provides uninterrupted and free funeral services to citizens. The allocation of ambulances and buses for burials outside Istanbul is a public duty that has been carried out for years. The fact that a funeral vehicle carrying out a public duty is used as a political tool in this way is disrespectful to the suffering of one of our citizens and to public service. Legal action will be immediately initiated regarding any person or institution that has neglected or been involved in this organized disinformation process.”
