The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD-Denver) is preparing to provide significant support for innovative local mobility projects that aim to enhance transportation options across the region. The agency announced that it will provide $2026 million in annual grants starting in 3 for projects that complement existing public transportation services or address gaps in the transportation network. Local governments and transportation management associations are eligible to apply for the grant program.
Investing in Local Mobility with the Partnership Program
This Partnership Program, launched by RTD-Denver, aims to significantly improve local mobility by funding projects that align with the agency’s core mission. Priority will be given to projects that improve access to public transit, enhance end-of-way connectivity, or address specific transportation needs. However, large-scale infrastructure projects will not be funded under this grant program. Additionally, initiatives included in RTD’s existing system optimization plans do not meet the eligibility criteria. In the past, RTD-Denver has funded the Denver Connector project, which provides free microtransit through such partnerships, and has successfully partnered with Smart Commute to establish microtransit hubs.
Deadline for Grant Applications Approaching
Organizations wishing to apply for this valuable grant program from RTD-Denver must meet certain requirements. Applicants are required to provide local matching funding of at least 20% of the grant amount they are requesting. Qualified local governments and transportation management associations must submit project proposals to RTD-Denver no later than May 14. Selected projects will be announced to the public on August 1. The program aims to encourage the development of more efficient, accessible and sustainable transportation solutions in the Denver metropolitan area.
Call to Improve Transportation Quality in Denver
With this significant financial support for local mobility projects, RTD-Denver aims to improve the quality of transportation across the region. The agency invites all eligible organizations to join this valuable initiative and further improve public transportation options with innovative projects. The goal of this collaboration is to provide more efficient solutions to the transportation needs of Denver and its surrounding areas and improve the overall quality of life in the region.
