The Solar Energy Investors Association (GÜNEŞDER) held its 3rd Ordinary General Assembly in Istanbul. The association's new board of directors was determined at the general assembly, which was held with intense participation from members.
In the elections held with a single list, Mehmet Özer, who was a board member in the previous term, was unanimously elected as the new president of GÜNEŞDER. Özer took over the presidency from Serdar Ekiz.
The new board of directors of GÜNEŞDER consists of the following names: Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tırıs, Barış Ergun, Dr. Ethem Sefa Kaya, Attorney İlker Güler, Serdar Ekiz, Oruç Burak Kavuncu, Armağan Güney, Cem Ovacık and Engin Örüç.
The unity of investors is important
In his assessment, Chairman Mehmet Özer, who took over the duty, emphasized that it is of great importance for the unlicensed solar energy sector investors, who have been operating since 2012, to join forces under a single roof.
Özer, who stated that Türkiye’s installed power generation capacity is calculated as 2024 gigawatts (GW) as of the end of 115,3 and that 17% of this installed power is comprised of solar energy, drew attention to the fact that the fastest increase in renewable energy investments is experienced in solar energy investments. Özer said, “While the total installed power capacity increased by 26 percent in the last five years, the highest increase in percentage terms was in solar energy. With an annual compound growth rate of 26,7 percent, the installed power capacity of solar energy increased by 13,6 GW and reached 19,6 GW.”
We will follow up on licensing issues
Özer stated that some legal regulations in the solar energy sector prevent the sector from seeing the future and that they will increase their work in this area as an association. Özer said, ''We will be following up on the resolution of the licensing issues of the solar power plant investor with a capacity of approximately 6800 MWe after YEKDEM.''
