Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, made a phone call to Yasemin Minguzzi, the grieving mother of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was brutally taken from life in Istanbul, and conveyed his condolences. Expressing his deep sorrow over this tragic event, Mayor Genç wished patience to the family and announced that they, as Trabzon, had made a meaningful decision to keep Ahmet's memory alive.
Message of Condolence and Support from President Genç
In his phone conversation with Yasemin Minguzzi, President Genç said, “May God have mercy on our brother Ahmet. Our Ahmet became our angel in heaven. May God give you and the whole family patience. We share your sorrow sincerely. May he rest in peace, God willing he will meet you in heaven. I offer my condolences to you, your wife and your whole family. God willing, when I come to Istanbul, I would like to visit you and our child’s grave,” indicating that he is with the grieving family.
Ahmet's Name Will Live on in the Children's Traffic Education Park
Referring to the meaningful loyalty shown by Trabzonspor by naming the stands after Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, Mayor Genç announced that they had made a similar decision as the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality. Mayor Genç said, “We have an idea. We want to give Ahmet’s name to our Children’s Traffic Education Park right next to our Akyazı stadium. We also want to build a skateboard track there because Ahmet loved skateboarding. We want to represent him with a statue and keep his name alive there forever.” With this meaningful gesture, Ahmet’s name will live on forever in an area where children receive education and do sports.

Yasemin Akıncılar Minguzzi, who was touched by Mayor Genç’s sensitive approach, thanked Mayor Genç with the words, “We are experiencing the indescribable pain of losing Ahmet. Such loyal adoption was a great consolation for us. I was pleased, I was very touched.” This meaningful decision of the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality was recorded as an important step in keeping Ahmet’s memory alive while alleviating the pain of the grieving family to some extent.
