
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, in his comprehensive statement on the occasion of Tourism Week, emphasized that Kayseri, a 6-year-old ancient city rising in the heart of Anatolia, continues to demonstrate its tourism potential in every field. Mayor Büyükkılıç underlined that they are carrying out intensive work with the aim of making the city one of the important tourism destinations of Türkiye and the world.
Kayseri: Meeting Point of History, Nature and Taste
Drawing attention to the rich historical and cultural heritage of Kayseri, Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “Our Kayseri has been a fascinating city with its cultural and historical heritage, hosting many civilizations throughout history. Shedding light on history with its history of over 6 thousand years, Kayseri has left another ancient trace in every corner and is an ancient city with unique beauties and riches worldwide. With its trade, tourism, nature, cuisine and historical structures, Kayseri is the apple of Türkiye’s eye.” He stated that the work continues uninterruptedly with the aim of making Kayseri one of the most important tourism centers of Türkiye.
Projects are being implemented with a multi-faceted tourism approach
Mayor Büyükkılıç reminded that Kayseri holds the title of “Golden Flag Awarded European Sports City” and said that special projects and cultural heritage protection efforts for history, tourism, education, health and sports are continuing rapidly. Büyükkılıç emphasized that they are trying to make Kayseri a center where the past and the future meet, and stated that the greatest power behind these successes is the support of the people of Kayseri. He expressed that they continue to beautify and grow Kayseri as a tourism city with projects that make serious contributions to the city’s economy and the budget allocated for investment. Mayor Büyükkılıç noted that Kayseri is like an open-air museum bursting with history.
The Beauties of Kayseri Are Ready to Welcome Local and Foreign Tourists
Stating that there are all kinds of tourism in Kayseri, Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “First of all, our country’s pearl Erciyes; the world’s second largest waterfall Kapuzbaşı Waterfalls, our Koramaz Valley on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List, Aladağlar-Hacer Forests, Soğanlı Valley where balloon tourism is made, bird paradise Sultan Marshes, our historical values Kültepe Kaniş-Karum, our Kayseri Castle, our madrasah and museums, Cumhuriyet Square and Kapalı Çarşı are waiting for our local and foreign tourists.” Reminding that the largest mosaic structure of Central Anatolia was reached in the İncesu Örenşehir region, Büyükkılıç stated that the Roman and Early Byzantine mosaics unearthed in the excavations will make a worldwide impact, and that unique 7,5 million-year-old fossils continue to be unearthed in the world.
Historical Heritage Revives
Mayor Büyükkılıç said that they revived Kültepe Kaniş-Karum with the Kültepe Museum, which will be the world's leading rock-carved museum, the Assyrian Merchants' Street consisting of 14 houses, and the Kültepe Visitor Center projects. He announced that with the protocol planned with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mimar Sinan's house in Ağırnas will be turned into a museum and the Çerkes Mustafa Bey Mansion, whose restoration has been completed, will serve as the Koramaz Valley Museum. He emphasized that the aim is to present the city's historical and cultural heritage to visitors more effectively with the innovative work carried out in the Seljuk Civilization and Gevher Nesibe Medical History Museum.
Kayseri Tourism Master Plan Aims for Sustainable Tourism
Stating that they made a special effort to promote the cultural richness and diversity of Kayseri, Mayor Büyükkılıç said that the Kayseri Tourism Map was renewed and put into service at cbs.kayseri.bel.tr and that all the beauties of the city were included in the kayseri.com.tr tourism portal. Noting that Erciyes serves tourism throughout the year with its modern facilities and natural beauties with the aim of becoming a center for mountain tourism, Büyükkılıç stated that a new experience where sports and nature are intertwined will be realized with the Tomarza Böke Canoe Project. Also touching on the work of the Kayseri City Council Tourism Working Group, Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that the Kayseri Tourism Master Plan Search Conference was successfully held and that the city's tourism potential will be evaluated in a planned and sustainable manner in line with this plan.
Kayseri on the World Stage with Gastronomy Tourism and New Projects
Mayor Büyükkılıç said that Kayseri has also made its name known to the world in gastronomy tourism and that it is a great source of pride to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a gastronomy city. In addition to the Gastronomy Days, he announced that the Culinary Arts Center project in the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan National Garden will be completed and put into service soon. He announced that the Caravan Park Project will be implemented for nature-friendly camping enthusiasts while tourism investments continue.
