Kayseri Modernizes with 5,4 Billion TL Transportation Investment

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç stated that they have transformed Kayseri into a modern and comfortable city with the 6 billion TL investment made in the city's transportation infrastructure in 5,4 years. Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “We have modernized our city's transportation infrastructure with radical investments. With new boulevards, multi-level intersections and environmental projects, Kayseri will be one of the exemplary cities not only today but also in the future.”

The investments made by the Department of Technical Affairs under the leadership of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç between 2019-2025 reshaped the transportation infrastructure of the city and increased the living comfort of Kayseri residents. The investments exceeding 5 billion 435 million 485 thousand TL made Kayseri a candidate to become a city that is shown as an example not only regionally but also nationally. The most important of these investments were major changes in the transportation infrastructure and environmental arrangements.

35 Boulevards, 70 Kilometers of Divided Road and 85 Kilometers of New Road

Stating that they have mobilized all resources for the past 6 years to strengthen the transportation infrastructure of Kayseri, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said, “We have made major investments to eliminate the difficulties experienced in traffic and transportation in the city. With the construction of 35 boulevards and streets, 70 kilometers of divided roads and 85 kilometers of new road infrastructure, Kayseri has become an exemplary city in transportation.”

President Büyükkılıç continued his speech as follows:

“Our goal was to make urban transportation safer, more comfortable and more efficient. Thanks to these investments, Kayseri is taking firm steps towards the future as a rapidly growing and developing city. 7 multi-level intersections were built to ease the traffic flow in the city. Traffic congestion has been greatly reduced with the intersections built especially in areas such as Hulusi Akar Boulevard, Eşref Bitlis Boulevard 2 U-junctions, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Boulevard - 15 Temmuz Boulevard intersection, Kuruköprü Neighborhood Road Bridge, Osman Kavuncu Boulevard Terminal Junction, Org. Hulusi Akara Boulevard - Org. Eşref Bitlis Boulevard Intersection, City Hospital 4 Arm.”

Büyükkılıç, who pointed out that the Metropolitan Municipality Technical Affairs Department also works to increase the city's equipment and make the city more livable in addition to its activities related to roads and transportation, stated that 4 public gardens were designed so that the people of Kayseri could live a more comfortable life in green areas in the center and districts, and said, “We wanted to provide Kayseri with a modern and sustainable city identity with our public gardens and green area projects. The public gardens built in Akkışla, Pınarbaşı, Özvatan and Yeşilhisar districts both added aesthetic value to the city and offered areas where citizens could be in touch with nature.”

Mayor Büyükkılıç also stated that the length of bicycle paths in the city was increased to 34 thousand 850 meters and the length of pedestrian paths was increased to 149 thousand 242 meters.

Environmentally Friendly Investments

Underlining that environmentally sensitive investments have also gained momentum with projects such as solid waste storage areas and sludge waste storage areas, which are among the activities of the Metropolitan Technical Works, Büyükkılıç noted that significant contributions were made to the city in terms of recycling and waste management with the solid waste storage areas built in Bünyan, Develi, Sarız and Yeşilhisar districts.

Büyükkılıç stated that in addition to 6 parking lots, 6 million 591 thousand tons of hot asphalt were laid in 1 years, and that they also provided Kayseri residents with important services such as pergolas, lighting poles, sports structures, toilets, ablution facilities, closed areas for prayer rooms, graves, retaining or surrounding walls, interlocking paving stones, natural stone walls or floor coverings.

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said that he will continue his efforts to make Kayseri a more livable city after the 6-year term and said, “Every investment we make is a step for the future of our city.
