ISKI, under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), is implementing another strategic environmental project in line with its mission to protect the Marmara Sea. Launched in the Çanta district of Silivri Wastewater Collection Collector Line Project, will ensure that wastewater in the region is directed directly to the advanced biological treatment plant. In this way, uncontrolled wastewater discharge from Çanta and its surroundings into the Marmara Sea will be prevented, making a significant contribution to the protection of the marine ecosystem. At the same time, the risk of pollution of underground and surface water resources will be minimized.
Environmental Protection Strengthens with Infrastructure Line
Within the scope of this important environmentally sensitive project, a total of 6.620 meters It was planned to build a modern wastewater collection line in length. Thanks to this new infrastructure, the uncontrolled wastewater flow reaching Çanta Creek and therefore the Marmara Sea will be completely prevented. When we look at the technical details of the project, it is seen that the E-5 highway crossing, which is a critical point, 1.400 mm Durable reinforced concrete pipes with a diameter of approximately 12 meters The deep wastewater collector manufacturing will be carried out by open excavation method. This challenging transition shows the determination of the project to protect the Marmara Sea.
The Works Will Be Carried Out in Two Stages and Traffic Arrangements Will Be Made
Meticulously carried out by İSKİ “Bag Wastewater Collection Collector Line Project” During this period, temporary traffic regulations will also be implemented in the region. Two separate stages were determined for the safe and rapid completion of the work. In the first stage, the Tekirdağ direction and in the second stage, the Istanbul direction will be temporarily closed to traffic for certain periods. During these closures, traffic flow will be provided in a controlled manner with road direction signs and lane narrowing.
The temporary traffic arrangements planned within the scope of the first phase of the work are as follows:
- Silivri, Çanta Sancaktepe Neighborhood, Çanta Location, D-110 Highway Crossing, Kınalı Junction, Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Street, Tekirdağ direction will be closed to traffic until May 30, 2025. During this period, traffic flow will be provided in the direction of Istanbul via a single lane. This arrangement was taken as a mandatory measure for the safe progress of work in this critical section of the project.
- Çerkezköy Tekirdağ Junction will be closed to traffic until June 30, 2025. Traffic flow in this area will be provided via alternative routes. It is important for drivers to pay attention to these dates and follow alternative routes.
This strategic project by İSKİ is an important step taken for the protection of the Marmara Sea and for the people of the region to live in a healthy environment. With the completion of the project, wastewater management in the region will have a more sustainable structure and long-term contributions will be made to the protection of the ecological balance of the Marmara Sea. Such environmentally focused projects by İBB and İSKİ are of great importance for the transfer of Istanbul's natural beauties to future generations.
