Great Interest in Natural Wonders During Ramadan Holiday

During the 9-day holiday, which included the Eid al-Fitr, 1 million 921 thousand 91 people visited the national parks and nature parks under the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Citizens who want to spend time in touch with nature preferred the nature parks and national parks under the authority and responsibility of the DKMP General Directorate during the holiday covering the dates of March 29 - April 6, 2025.

The protected areas, which offer visitors the opportunity to have fun, rest and spend their free time with their air, water, historical-natural resource values, natural views and calm environments, were flooded with visitors during the 9-day holiday.

While 1 million 921 thousand 91 people visited the protected areas across the country during the said dates, Ormanya Nature Park, which hosted 214 thousand 269 visitors, was at the top of the list.

Marmaris National Park, which attracts attention with its nature and sea, took second place on the list with 196 thousand 941 visitors, while Burç Nature Park in Gaziantep came third with 167 thousand 376 visitors.

Other protected areas that stand out in terms of visitor numbers are listed as follows:

  • Beysehir Lake National Park: 150.342 people
  • Beydaglari Coastal National Park: 90.378 people
  • Akyokus Nature Park: 88.460 people
  • Ayvalik Islands Nature Park: 73.481 people
  • Shamlar Nature Park: 60.152 people
  • Munzur Valley National Park: 47.175 people
  • Turgut Özal Nature Park: 33.044 people

MINISTER YUMAKLI: “NATIONAL PARKS AND NATURAL PARKS WERE THE ROUTE OF OUR CITIZENS THIS FESTIVAL”

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that citizens who wanted to spend the Ramadan holiday in touch with nature showed great interest in the protected areas under the responsibility of the Ministry during the 9-day period, "Although rainy weather prevails in most parts of the country, "Our citizens' route during the Ramadan Feast was also national parks and nature parks. We are very pleased to host nature lovers on this holiday as well," he said.

Yumaklı emphasized that in order not to leave this interest shown in protected areas unrequited, they are constantly developing new projects that will satisfy visitors, and noted the following:

“We had broken a record by hosting a total of 49 million 269 thousand 111 visitors in 32 in our 85 protected areas, including 14 national parks, 59 nature parks, 58 nature monuments, 677 nature conservation areas, 2024 wildlife development areas, 67 Ramsar sites, 849 national and 852 local wetlands. We are implementing our new projects to build promotion centers, observation terraces, tour routes and adventure trails in order to break new records. While we resolutely protect and develop these beauties of our country, our foremost desire is for visitors to make the best use of protected areas. In this context, I would like to thank our dear nation for supporting us and not leaving us alone in our efforts to carry our protected areas to the future.”
