Gaziantep Heroic Panorama Hosted 1 Million Visitors

The 100 December Heroism Panorama and Museum, which was brought to life by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality on the 25th anniversary of the city's liberation from enemy occupation and received great acclaim, had the pleasure of hosting its 4 millionth visitor in its 1th year.

Bringing together art and history in an impressive way and conveying the heroic epic of the city of Gazi against the French Armies to its visitors in all its aspects, the museum attracted great attention in a short time. The one who had the chance to be the 1 millionth visitor was Elisa Uslu, the lovely 5-year-old daughter of Cihan and Nazife, who came from Aydın to Gaziantep to visit her relatives.

Greeted with applause by the staff at the entrance of the museum, little Elisa was presented with a plaque in memory of this special moment and a bicycle was also presented as a gift by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. Visiting the museum with her mother, father and grandmother, Elisa received information from the staff about the works and events in the museum and carefully examined the impressive paintings and historical objects. Little Elisa stated that she liked the museum very much and especially watched the panoramic paintings with admiration with her family.

Baba Uslu: “My Daughter Showed Her Luck Again”

Expressing their great surprise and happiness that the 1 millionth visitor was their daughter, father Cihan Uslu from Gaziantep stated that returning to Aydın without visiting the museum would be a great loss and expressed his feelings with the following words:

“This place has been talked about a lot, praised a lot. We say, it is a good thing we came. We always thought that my daughter brought us luck. Today, my daughter reflected her own luck around her. The museum has reflected the heroic struggle to a great extent. Well done to the illustrators, everyone responsible for the decorations, the administrators, everything is really realistic. It is very nice and proud to feel the blood shed by our ancestors, their sacrifices, the historical pattern here. When we look at it as healthcare professionals, it has both wounded and made us proud. The struggles of our colleagues and our professional elders here, and also in the field of healthcare, are also very admirable, they have created opportunities in the midst of impossibilities. Not every Gaziantep resident, but every Turkish citizen, and even everyone living in Türkiye, should somehow experience this place.”

Mother Uslu: “We Thank Everyone Who Contributed”

Mother Nazife Uslu expressed that they were very emotional while visiting the museum and said, “Since we are also doctors, we were very emotional especially when we saw the sacrifices made by doctors and the interventions they made to the wounded. Healthcare workers have always been selfless but war requires a different sacrifice. We thank everyone who built this place, thought of it, contributed to every point and Mayor Fatma Şahin.”

The December 25 Heroic Panorama and Museum continues to be highly appreciated by both locals and visitors to the city, impressively displaying Gaziantep’s struggle for liberation from enemy occupation. This success, crowned with the 1 millionth visitor, once again showed how important a cultural asset the museum is for Gaziantep.
