“THIS LIKE AREAS SHOULD BE SPREAD ALL OVER Türkiye”
Prof. Dr. Sacit Arslantekin, Head of the Department of Information and Document Management at Ankara University Faculty of Language, History and Geography, said that libraries play a critical role in transferring cultural heritage to future generations, presenting the accuracy of scientific information comparatively, and spreading the culture of reading.
Emphasizing that libraries are a reliable source against information pollution, Arslantekin gave the example of ABB's youth academies. Arslantekin said, “Libraries are safe public areas. It is a great opportunity for the young segment in particular to have safe, free areas. With the provision of places like the youth academy in Ankara, free safe areas have emerged. In terms of food and drink, it is incomparably cheaper than other private places. People can both work in groups and work on their hobbies here. They can benefit from free Wi-Fi and similar opportunities. We are very happy when we visit these places from time to time. We expect such initiatives to spread all over Türkiye.”
