'Flamingo Island' Meets Art Lovers in Bornova

Journalist and photographer Esat Erçetingöz's special photography exhibition titled "Flamingo Island" is presented to art lovers by Bornova Municipality Museum Directorate. The exhibition will open its doors on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 14.00:XNUMX at Galeri Hamam Sanat.

Esat Erçetingöz, who is a member of the Board of Directors of the İzmir Journalists Association and the President of the Aegean Magazine Journalists Association, will share 40 of his select photographs reflecting the fascinating natural life of flamingos with art lovers in Bornova in this exhibition. These photographs, meticulously taken in İzmir Bird Paradise, which is the largest artificial flamingo breeding island in Europe, bring together the impressive language of art and awareness of nature.

Expressing his feelings about his works in the exhibition, Esat Erçetingöz stated that he photographed 640 different frames of mother flamingos and their newborn black-feathered chicks on Flamingo Island in İzmir Bird Paradise with special permission from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Erçetingöz expressed his happiness in presenting 40 special photographs he selected from this extensive archive to the audience through this exhibition. Emphasizing that his aim is to protect this unique natural wealth of İzmir and to create social awareness on this issue, Erçetingöz expressed his belief that photography is a powerful tool for this purpose.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki invited all Bornova residents to the opening of the exhibition. Mayor Eşki emphasized that Bornova is a city that stands out not only with its historical and cultural riches but also with its love of nature. Stating that this valuable exhibition by Esat Erçetingöz reflects the miracles offered by nature from an artistic perspective, Mayor Eşki said that as Bornova Municipality, bringing nature together with art is an important identity element for them. He stated that they will always support such events to protect natural areas of worldwide importance such as the Bird Paradise and to spread this awareness.
