Children Gathered at the Water Sports Festival in Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to provide unforgettable experiences for children with various events organized as part of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day celebrations. One of these events was the Water Sports Festival held at the Inciraltı Rowing and Canoeing Facilities. Children between the ages of 10-15 who attended the festival had a fun day and had the opportunity to get acquainted with water sports.

Theoretical Training and Practical Application Together

Children, who first received theoretical information about surfing, canoeing and optimist sailing from expert water sports instructors, later experienced the excitement of trying these sports at sea. Young participants, who discovered different sports experience areas established throughout the festival, were colored with face painting activities and developed their imaginations in creative drama workshops.

Awareness Training Was Not Forgotten

Not only entertainment and sports, but also awareness training played an important role in the festival. İZDENİZ officials taught children how to make a sailor's knot, while providing detailed information about the importance of a life jacket and its correct use. How to properly wear a life jacket, which is vital in emergencies, why it is necessary to fit the body properly, and emergency evacuation procedures were explained in practice.

DENİZTEMİZ / TURMEPA Association also took part in the festival and provided important information to children about nature, sea, plastic consumption and zero waste. The aim of these trainings was to create environmental awareness in children at an early age. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality's April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day events will continue with various programs at different points of the city until April 29.
