Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç announced that they will develop comprehensive projects to turn Sultan Marshes, one of the natural beauties of Kayseri and known as a bird paradise, into an important center of attraction in tourism. Mayor Büyükkılıç, together with Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, made examinations in the region and gave the good news of the works that will maximize the tourism potential of this unique natural wonder.
Natural Wonder Sultan Marshes Will Come to Life with Tourism
Strategically located in the middle of Yeşilhisar, Yahyalı and Develi, Sultan Marshes hosts 301 different bird species and attracts the attention of local and foreign tourists with the visual feast created by migrating birds and especially flamingos every year. This important wetland, which draws attention with its unique natural features as well as bird watching opportunities, is preparing to reach the position it deserves in tourism with the cooperation of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and the Governorship.
President Büyükkılıç: “We Will Display the Best Examples of Working Together”
During the examinations in the region, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç emphasized that Sultan Marshes have great importance in terms of tourism for Kayseri. He stated that with the increase in tourism activity in Soğanlı Valley and the acceleration of the works here, the tourism potential of Sultan Marshes will be activated after this region, which is the gateway to Cappadocia. Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “Our aim is to put these places into the service of people and to make approaches that will contribute to the people of the region both economically and in terms of tourism. I believe that we will achieve this goal by working together. I wish the works to be carried out from now on to be beneficial and auspicious. We will exhibit the best examples of working together here.”
Governor Çiçek: “We Have a Planning in Cooperation with Our Metropolitan Municipality”
Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek stated that Sultan Marshes is one of the shining values of Türkiye in terms of nature tourism and said that a plan was made in cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality to recapture its past liveliness. Governor Çiçek stated that National Parks, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and Kayseri Governorship decided to work on issues such as re-evaluation of the business inside, improvement of walking paths, landscaping and road arrangement, and that they believe Sultan Marshes should be on the agenda more.
Yeşilhisar Mayor Halit Taşyapan also stated that Sultan Marshes is an important tourism destination in the middle of Yeşilhisar, Yahyalı and Develi and that they are trying to make this region more lively with tourism with the support of the Governorship and the Metropolitan Municipality.
With this strong cooperation of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and Kayseri Governorship and the projects to be implemented, Sultan Marshes is expected to become one of the important centers of nature tourism not only in Kayseri but also in all of Türkiye. These works will also make significant contributions to the regional economy.
