Ayhan Sulak was unanimously elected as the president at the ordinary general assembly of the Contractors Federation (MÜFED) hosted by the Izmir Chamber of Commerce (İZTO).
İzmir Deputy Governor Mehmet Sadık Tunç, İZTO Board Chairman Mahmut Özgener, MÜFED Honorary Chairman and 27th Term İzmir Deputy Necip Nasır, Assembly Deputy Chairman Mehmet Tahir Özdemir, CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu, former Narlıdere Mayor Ali Engin, Manisa Contractors Association Chairman Burhanettin Yaşar and his board of directors and members of associations affiliated with MÜFED attended the general assembly held in the assembly hall.
CHANGE IS INEVITABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SECTOR
Speaking at the general assembly, MÜFED Board of Directors Chairman and İZTO Board of Directors Member İsmail Kahraman said, “I have decided not to run again in order to pave the way for my young and dynamic colleagues who have improved themselves in the Contractors Federation Presidency position that I have held with great pride until today. We have implemented important projects for the development of our sector. We have defended the rights of our contractors and struggled to take the construction sector to a higher level. I would like to thank all our friends and our board of directors who have supported us in this process. Change is inevitable for the development of the sector. This is not a farewell, but a new beginning. I will continue to contribute to the sector during my term as a İZTO Board of Directors member in the upcoming process. I will use my experiences and knowledge to take our sector further. Our aim is to carry the construction sector to the future in a sustainable and innovative way. I wish success to our new board of directors and thank you all very much.”
NASIR'S EMPHASIZATION OF 'I AM ALWAYS WITH YOU'
Speaking at the meeting, MÜFED Honorary President Necip Nasır said: “Civil society organizations, which have become an indispensable part of modern democracy by allowing individuals and groups to express themselves, participate in management processes and contribute to the understanding of living together, have now become a third sector between the state and the private sector. In the journey we have started for the construction sector to gain an organized structure, I have understood once again how right steps we have taken with the results I have witnessed in the field and in the parliament as a member of parliament as a result of the associations and federation we have established. I have always been by the side of my colleagues and will continue to be so. I wish success to the new board of directors. I would also like to thank President Mahmut Özgener with my most heartfelt feelings for ensuring coordination between institutions and organizations in İzmir and for his efforts to solve İzmir’s problems by acting as a bridge between local and central governments.”
WE ARE NOT ONLY BUILDING BUILDINGS BUT ALSO BUILDING OUR FUTURE
Drawing attention to the contributions of the construction sector to the country’s economy, İZTO Board Chairman Mahmut Özgener said the following: “The contribution of the construction sector to our country’s economy is of course very large. Every investment made in the field of construction directly contributes to tourism, trade and industry. I believe that you, our contractors, who are the largest professional group in our chamber that contributes to the economic development of İzmir and our country, play a very key role. Contracting is also one of the most fundamental elements that determine the identity of the city. All the buildings you construct are a signature engraved in the city’s memory. Therefore, architectural projects that beautify the city’s appearance, have high aesthetic value, are in harmony with nature and will set an example should be our common goal. Achieving this goal will be possible with the joint action of the public, private sector and professional organizations. At this point, we are not only building buildings, we are also building our future. The climate crisis, disaster risk and urbanization pressure experienced on a global scale also impose the responsibility of producing more resilient, environmentally friendly and sustainable structures. On the one hand, urban transformation for the construction of new earthquake-resistant structures also increases the safety of cities, provides economic vitality and increases the stock of modern, energy-efficient and sustainable housing. According to the data of the Izmir Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, approximately 108 thousand damaged buildings were detected. Their transformation should be done on a block basis. I would also like to emphasize that not only the superstructure but also the infrastructure systems should be approached with the same sensitivity. As İZTO, we have always tried to help you by bringing your problems to the agenda. We wish the board of directors of all federation members continued success in the upcoming period.”
WE WILL CONTINUE TO GET STRONG
MÜFED Board of Directors Chairman Ayhan Sulak emphasized that they will continue to work for the problems of the profession and colleagues in the new term and made the following statements: “We have completed the ordinary general assembly of our federation in accordance with our professional dignity. Your participation in our general assembly is of great importance in strengthening our federation by increasing solidarity and cooperation. We are ready for the new working term. We are aware of our responsibility. Your support and contributions are very valuable in shaping the future of our federation, protecting the interests of our members and our organized struggle. Just as we have overcome all difficulties with dedication, professional solidarity and togetherness until today; we are determined to continue the needed solidarity relationship with a transparent and participatory management approach in the upcoming period. I would like to thank our Chairman İsmail Kahraman and the Board of Directors, whom I have taken over, for their successful and devoted work to date. As in every term, our common denominator will be our colleagues and our profession. I would also like to thank you, our members, who ensure that our federation continues on its path by strengthening.”
