
Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Türkiye

The Ministry of Industry and Technology announced 2030 Industry and Technology Strategy document, artificial intelligence technologies R&D and emphasizes that it is the fundamental building block of the innovation ecosystem. In this context, it is aimed to strengthen scientific capacity with projects such as the Turkish Big Language Model.
Artificial Intelligence Supercomputer Investment Program
Launched to support the development of the artificial intelligence ecosystem in Türkiye Artificial Intelligence Supercomputer Investment Program, is one of the important steps taken in this field. Thanks to this program, Türkiye's highest capacity supercomputer ARF has been put into operation. ARF adds a new dimension to scientific studies with more than 80 thousand processor cores, 312 GPU cards and 14 Petabytes of high-performance storage. This capacity offers a performance equivalent to the computing power provided by 40 thousand high-end laptops.
Features of the ARF Supercomputer
ARF supercomputer, serves researchers in the fields of computational sciences such as climate modeling, biotechnology, basic sciences and medical sciences. This system works with direct liquid cooling technology, increasing efficiency and saving energy. ARF is working to strengthen Türkiye's data processing infrastructure and high performance computing to provide capacity Turkish National Science e-Infrastructure (TRUBA) is used in.
Quantum Computer Investments
To further build on the success of the ARF supercomputer, a quantum computer is planned. This next-generation computer will have an architecture based on superconducting qubits and will contain at least 20 physical superconducting qubits. Quantum computers will greatly contribute to the development of artificial intelligence applications, with the ability to perform complex calculations quickly.

TUBITAK, EuropHPC Program MareNostrum5 infrastructure, established in Spain, is a partner in the company. MareNostrum5 is operated by a consortium consisting of Turkey, Spain and Portugal. This supercomputer ranked 2024th in the world ranking on the Top500 list announced in November 35. MareNostrum5 serves researchers from all sectors and supports artificial intelligence applications in line with the goal of accelerating the industrial and public artificial intelligence ecosystem.
BSC Artificial Intelligence Factory
With the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TUBITAK as a partner BSC Artificial Intelligence Factory (BSC-AIF) has been accepted as one of the first 7 AI factories supported by the EuroHPC Joint Venture. The MareNostrum5 system is aimed to be updated as an AI-optimized supercomputer, accelerating the industrial and public AI ecosystem. Such investments increase Türkiye's competence in the field of AI and contribute to a more competitive position in the international arena.
