This strong collaboration between the ABB Youth and Sports Services Department, the Ankara Amateur Sports Clubs Federation and the Ankara City Council Sports Assembly provides promising steps for the further development and popularization of sports in Ankara.
Comprehensive Sports Program to be Implemented in 2025
Drawing attention to the importance of the meeting, Sports Services Branch Manager Sercan Yiğit said, “The 2nd Sports Council was held by our Department in cooperation with the City Council Sports Assembly. We evaluated mutual views for the development of sports-related areas in Ankara. Problems regarding sports service activities were identified. Our work will continue at full speed for Ankara to become the Capital of Sports.”
Ankara City Council Vice President Prof. Dr. Lale Özgenel gave the good news of an exciting sports program for 2025. Özgenel said, “We want to implement a sports program that will start in May and spread throughout the year in 2025, and will most likely be concluded in October. In partnership with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Sports and Youth Department and the Ankara City Council, with the support of the City Council’s Sports Assembly, this program will begin in May with various sports events. We hope that in the fall, there will be a big event called a sports council, where we will discuss sports from different aspects, and then a program that will conclude with an award ceremony for our tournaments and competitions. We are in the preparation meetings for that.”
This joint workshop and the planned comprehensive sports program show that Ankara will gain significant momentum in the field of sports and that the capital is taking firm steps towards its goal of becoming the center of sports.
