'This Week in Education' Statement from the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) announced important developments in the field of education between March 8-14. In the statement made by the ministry, various visits and events carried out by the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin in Erzincan were highlighted.

Minister Tekin attended the “Adoption of the National Anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Commemoration Day” program in Erzincan. On this meaningful day, the acceptance of the national anthem and the events held in memory of Mehmet Akif Ersoy were a great opportunity to remind the younger generations of the Turkish nation’s struggle for independence and the importance of the National Anthem.

Another important event held in Erzincan was the surprise visits of Minister Tekin. Minister Tekin met with students and teachers, received their opinions and chatted about innovations in education. He also chaired the provincial education evaluation meeting, received information about the education situation in Erzincan and offered solutions in line with local needs.

Minister Tekin was also a guest at the "Youth Iftar" as part of his program in Erzincan. The Minister came together with the youth at the iftar table, chatted with the students and listened to their demands regarding education.

In particular, as part of the “Let’s Talk at Iftar” program, Minister Tekin held a talk for students. This talk provided the opportunity to get the views of young people by providing on-site answers to their questions about education and social life.

In addition, students who learned to read and write wrote their first letters to Turkish soldiers at an important stage of their education. This meaningful activity both instilled national consciousness in the students and provided them with the opportunity to express their respect for Mehmetçik.

These visits and events aim to enable Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin to have direct contacts on different areas of education and to see the needs of students and teachers more closely.
