İZSU Completed Stream Rehabilitation Works in Urla and Seferihisar

The improvement works initiated by the ZSU General Directorate in the streams in Urla and Seferihisar with an investment of 90 million liras have been completed. While the Seferihisar Efendioğlu, Urla Sivrice, İncirliboğaz, Çamlıçay and Tabaklar streams were improved, the streams in the Peninsula region were also cleaned. 2024 thousand tons of material have been removed from the stream cleanings since 110.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality İZSU General Directorate continues its improvement program in streams that cause problems in residential areas and pose a flood risk during rainy weather. İZSU teams, who have been working since the beginning of summer on Seferihisar Efendioğlu, Urla Sivrice, İncirliboğaz, Çamlıçay and Tabaklar streams, have completed the construction that was supposed to be completed in April ahead of schedule. In addition, cleaning and maintenance work on streams in the Peninsula region under the responsibility of İZSU General Directorate continues uninterruptedly. 14 kilometers of streams were cleaned in 175 months and 110 thousand tons of material were removed. It was reported that improvement work will begin on the Çeşme Çiftlik Stream and Urla Sivrice Stream downstream routes.

Investments will continue

Stating that stream improvements were implemented with an investment of 90 million liras, Harun Seçkin, Head of Peninsula Streams Unit of İZSU General Directorate 3rd Regional Operations Department, said, “In order to prevent floods and possible loss of life and property due to floods, we have completed 786 meters of improvement works in Urla İncirliboğaz Stream and 617 meters in total in Seferihisar Efendioğlu Stream. We have also manufactured 280 meters of construction in Çamlıçay Neighborhood to protect the region from floods. We will also start working in Sivrice Stream in the same region. Our stream cleaning works continue uninterruptedly. We prevent bad odor and mosquito formation by cleaning the sediment and reeds formed during the rainy season and ensure hydraulic flow in the streams. While preparing our peninsula region for the rainy season, we also took precautions against flies and insects before the summer season. We will continue our stream improvement investments in the Peninsula.”
